onetonbb74 submitted a new Build:

Onetonbb74s K5

This project has changes over the years...I started out back in 2002 with a white 79K20 that had a rod missing. I towed it home and it sat until 2004ish...I then flew out to Hyde Park NY and visited my buddy graduating from school and we jumped in a 79k10 and drove it back to San Jose. He gave me the k10, dubbed the brown bomber...That was a snow plow beater truck that I wheeled until smog was up...I pulled the motor in the brown bomber and was planning to rebuild it when I came across a 74 K20 running and driving, so I went to Santa Cruz and bought it and drove it home. That was the only time I drove that truck. Pulled that leaded 350 out and basically parted that whole truck, swapped the frames with my nice white 79 K20 and started the build up of the white truck. I put the leaded 350 in my brown bomber for a few months until the tags were up, then I put the 350 in the white truck. In 2004, I finally got my white truck on the road and scrapped the 79 K10 brown bomber. I purchased a 84k30 diesel with a 454 under the hood, and the guy I bought it from was a tow truck driver, so he delivered it to my Moms house at the time. This is where my focus went to the white truck and all the other trucks had to go. The 84 K30 I just parted out and scrapped.

The white truck started to get built, it had a 74 350, th400 trans, and np203 transfer case. 14 bolt rear with 3.73s and a 60 front with 4.10s lifted on a 6" skyjacker lift. Here are some pics...built the dash, painless harness, crossover, etc. I also scored a rear 14 bolt with detroit from craigslist, so i swapped that in.

At this time I had a set of 36inch tsl's, open front, detroit rear, 4.10s, and a th400/203. I purchased an ORD doubler and I got a 1984 700r4 from craigslist and gave my buddy the trans to rebuild (gm transmission tech). I put 39.5 TSLs on 15 inch 8 lug rims, grinded the brakes until the rims cleared. Then went to hollister for some wheeling...
Took it to tahoe as well...

That tahoe trip I had a hard time getting there, the carbed 350 wasnt cutting it, the trans was hot and angry, and max speed was 25mph.. I ended up limping it in to Tahoe, on the way out, I attempted to drive out hwy 50 up echo pass and the rig wouldnt make any power off idle, so we strap towed it on Hwy 50 to the top of the pass and I coasted it down the hill to Fresh pond and had it towed to my grandpas house in georgetown. It sat there for a while as I live 200 miles away...I drove up there several times to get it running, but to no avail, it needed a motor. I had to tow it back to San jose.

The 350 motor was pulled, and I dropped the 454 from my donor K30. I took it wheeling and although the power was great, i was nervous of the 700r4, the motor didnt run right and I later found out that the cam was waaaay to big (6 inches of vac. at idle), the peanut port heads were choking it, my flawless carb was not flawless any more, the accessories were just bolts and wrenches welded together to extend the sbc brackets. My radiator was too small and the shroud I had didnt fit, motor ran at 210. I didn't like it and so out with the 454 and I just slapped a used tbi 350 in there to keep on wheeling...Im pretty sure at this point the 4.10 gears were swapped in favor of 5.38 gears and the front axle got a detroit. Not sure where those pictures are from 2007-8. Cash for clunkers donated most of the crap to get the 350 running, I just mounted a tbi tank in the bed and I ditched the saddle tanks.

Sometome in 2010, I ended up going to Santa Cruz for the day in the white truck, little did I know this would be the last journey in the white truck...On the way back to Saratoga, the motor developed a knock, it ended up getting louder and louder...kept the rpms under 1600 and limped it home to Saratoga at the time...the truck just sat in the street for a few months and then I had to move...Piled every last truck part and tool in the bed and made the last drive to my new home in San Jose. About 1 mile before I got there, the loose rod smacked the cam and broke the cam, seized, and had to strap tow it to the house. That motor was pulled. Drove to my buddies house in Reno, went to Summit and purchased a brand new crate TBI 350 longblock.

First order of business was to get the TBI350 swapped out and take the truck back to Hollister hills. Slapped 42" tsls on 16inch steelies and ran it at Hollister. Worked great until I busted a front stub shaft and had to limp it home. Decided to go back to the 39.5s and sold the 42s. My buddy at the time had a 89 blazer project that had a swapped 84 k5 diesel frame under it, I helped him install a cage and we were adjusting the valves on the tbi350 when we called it for the night, next thing I hear is that the Blazer is gone/stolen...when it was recovered, it was beat and I bought it from my buddy, towed it to my buddies yard near Gilroy and started swapping my white truck to the Blazer. I got the blazer less the 1 ton axles and the build of the blazer started.

When I first got the Blazer, the valve covers were missing and oil was everywhere thanks to the thieves who joyrided it and jumped it. I swapped my one ton axles and used the existing blazer driveshaft. Gutted the white truck and just gave it to my buddy for scrap for letting me use his yard...Drove the blazer home on that smokey 350.

First thing I did to the Blazer was the motor swap to my newer crate 350. Bought my buddies 37s that were on the Blazer prior to me owning it and drove it around for a while. Then the tranny started acting up, so I pulled it and swapped in my 700r4 doubler. Turns out I snapped the input shaft on the 89 trans most likely from neutral drops that the thieves did...

Me and my roommate rebuilt the 1989 700r4 in our garage. I also rebuilt the np205 and swapped my doubler into the Blazer from the white truck. Pulled the 700r4 that we rebuilt back on 06 and saved it as a spare. At this point the doubler was in, front and rear driveshafts were in, axles and motor swapped and I was trying to get the Blazer ready for the Dusy/Ershim trail. It needed a front winch installed and bumpers. I ended up making a bumper center and using my old multimount winch from my white truck and slapped the bumper from the brown bomber on the back, drove the 200 miles to get there and wheeled the trail...this is when it came back sittin in the driveway...

Ended up moving to a 200 acre cattle farm...wheeled the blazer almost everyday.

Then I jumped a ledge, crashed through a cattle fence, and bent the frame on the blazer...

This is when I called my buddy up and asked if he was interested on selling his Blazer, its an 89 and black, so after missing a wheeling trip I decided to hammer down and swap everything once again to a different Blazer chassis...

New blazer...motor pulled

The new blazer has a TBI350/th400/np241/and 3.73 10 bolts. The trans slips in reverse, motor pulls strong, 10 bolts needed everything, so out it all came and in went my old blazer drivetrain.
