thought I'd share this for anyone who wants to put FUSH bracket in place of the stock bracket... I did fuk up going with too big of a hole saw though, I'd reccomend a 2 1/4" or 2 1/8". first I got a small scrap piece of plywood, then I traced the bolt holes and bushing hole. I then drilled out the plywood and bolted in place..this holds the hole saw from wondering on the frame...worked out well

Good idea. Here is what I did for an additional reference point.

I drilled a hole in a small piece of metal. The hole is the same size as my guide bit on the hole saw. I welded the small piece of metal over the old FUSH bolt hole opening. Then put the old FUSH in place and drilled. The old FUSH still had the rivet nubs still in it so it lined up great. Easy guide and worked excellent.

The third pic is the new FUSH in place. I cleaned up the hole a bit before I installed it and painted it all when I was done.

good tips... you can also just do the holesaw in a holesaw method as Kert has mentioned in the past...... having the one be sized to the original hole as a guide...

but honestly, I just marked it out with a sharpie, 2 minutes per side with a fresh carbide burr in a die grinder, and I was done.. was done before I could have even set up a holesaw gig... it's not THAT much material...

x2 on the carbide burr bit, dont bother with a crappy bit,it just dies in a couple seconds but if u get a good bit. it will chew right through it in a couple minutes.

I knew what you meant. Just horsin' around.

Good way to do the surgery to. Hadn't thought about using wood. Then again, around this shop, wood is kind of an alien thing. It don't weld worth a spit.

hey Kert can you burn high steer arms out 1" ?

I can. However, I don't usually have any of it on hand. To purchase an entire sheet for a few arms....

I can check and see if I can get some smaller chunks. Perhaps even some bar stock that is wide enough would be feasible.

Another vote for the carbide burr on a die grinder. Did the first side with a hole saw, which took quite a while and was frustrating. Broke out the die grinder for side two and was done much quicker with a better result.

I guess I'm do for new carbide burs. I hate using them for anything.
