operation 1 ton suburban...*Head Unit installed*

man yall are gonna make me pull my suburban out of the backyard and start workin on it now....... gggrrrrrrr..........

ok, I got the pasenger side done about 15 minutes ago. The instructions says to drill out the 3/4 rotors to 21/32. so I go to drill out the rotors and its the same size :dunno: so I go ahead and pound in the studs but what I didn't notice was that there is a shoulder on the 1ton studs and I cracked the rotors  so I went and bought some new rotors from autozone. And then I drilled out those rotors to 11/16 and the studs fit in there perfect :D so anyways, one side is done. I'm so glad that I got ride of the stupid wedge stayle brake setup it's so much easier to work on now and down the line. In the end I still haven't spent one dime on this conversion, since the money I spent was money that I made from sellling off old parts :D

well, I just took it for a test drive :D so far so good. the 4.56's felt nice and so did the crossover. the suspension felt nice and soft and no DW. I just need to bleed the brakes and adjust the draglink a bit. other than that its pretty much done. then just a couple of things to do before next wensday.

I might have missed this some where but what size lift do you have?

how did it stop with all new brakes?

Shawn

the rear is 4" ord shackle flip + 1" zerorates, 56" springs and 12.5 travel shocks.
the front is 4" TC ezrides springs + 1" zerorates and 12.5 travel shocks.

so total is 5" in the rear and 5.75" in the front since the dana60 gives 3/4" of lift.

I have disc brakes front and rear. I need to bleed the brakes a bit. but they should be the same breaking power as before.

the crossover makes a huge difference over the stock steering. Before I couldn't really turn with the rear spool. now I can't even tell it's back there, when I'm turning around corners. I can't wait to twist up the suspension on the jungle gym trail in holliester.

overall, I'm pretty happy the way things turned out. there's a few things I didn't get to do to the truck since I ran out of time.

got the tires mounted this morning. the truck shakes around 35mph very slightly not really worried about. it could be that the tires are not balanced or it could be DW thats now showing. either way I'll fix that after hollister I need to do some cutting later... anyways, here some pics. there kinda of on the dark side.

You won't be able to isolate "wobble" until after the front frame horns are tied-up.:D
Oh, and you should tie the frame ends before any flexing, it goes straight to the steering box pattern.

going to put the bumper on after the trip. For now I'm going to put the tow hitch back on so I'll have a recovery point on the rear. also I'm going to cut the rear overhang off tomorrow and trim a few other spots.

Misson acomplished :D

I got the bumper mounted today!
the sub is loaded and ready for take off in the AM.... Ill be back on sunday! with tons of pics and some video......

well I'm back. trip was pretty fun. I was very happy the way the truck drove up there. we got to camp around 3pm on thursday. after we set up camp I finially put the truck in 4wd for the first time in 10 months so I headed out to the trails and then it was making a huge grinding/ rubbing sound from the transfer case.so we headed back to camp to drink it up and to try to figure out what the noise was. I pretty much wasted all day on friday trying to figure it out what the noise was. so then I removed the front shaft and took the truck for a spin in 4wd and the noise was gone. so I checked out the front shaft and turns out it was rubbing big time on the crossmember, I was pretty relived that it was that and not the the transfer case. so I slaped the front shaft back in and took it for a spin at the obstacle course and then smashed in my drivers side pasanger door :D anyways heres some poser pics. I didn't get to run jungle gym maybe next year it looked pretty wicked. oh and I won some stuff at the raffle and the dinner on saturday was awesome..... and meet up with jesse and his wife from blazen offroad super nice people....
