Well, I got a Truggy project from paully383, and I am gonna get it wheeling soon. I am going to try and put as little money in it as possible to get it up and wheeling, then start modifying it from there. The plan is to put a narrowed front clip on it that I already have.

I got a turbo 350 and a built turbo 350 with the deal, but the built one has a busted case, so I am gonna swap the guts into another case and run it. It is going to get a np203 that came with it, and it is twin sticked. I got the pink axles from HOPPER, and they are 4.56 gears, so I shouldn't have any gear issues with the 35's on it. And the roll bar in the back was given to me from a guy at work, I just need to modify the rear supports to go to the frame.

As it sits in the pics I have ~$700 in it, and I shouldn't need any more money to make it wheelable, just some time. It had the passenger slider mostly done, and I got the drivers pretty much done, but so far the only thing that i've done is put the drivers slider in, and put my axles under it with a steering box.

Looks real good Jason. Now you don't have to worry about banging the truck up on the trails.:D Are you going to trailer the truggy to the trails?

Off topic, did you get my pm by any chance?

I was learning to weld with that truck . I can jump my fat ass up and down all over it and that slider don't move :thumb:

Is your built 350 a manual valve body?

No . I rode with Shawn when before he cracked the case ( where Jason is getting the guts from ) , I don't believe it to be a manual valve body , just a th350 with a shift it and supposedly stronger internals . Jasons is taking that trannies internals and putting them in the other case he has .

I was just wondering. I remember either the powerglide/th350/or 200r4 manual vb require a port or two to be blocked. Just don't remember which, and don't want Jason to fry some clutches w/o proper install.

Trying to keep an eye on you two...

A couple hundred dollars towards a little more tube work maybe?

Don't want to make the vehicle more capable and find out the hard way that you needed more protection :deal:

Good point but he just wants to get it running and do a couple of trails, not go all out hardcore with it just yet. He wants to learn how the K5 handles since it's way different than the longbed pickup he wheels with. He did tell me that he will add tube and other essential protection as time goes by, he's doing this on a budget like everyone else.

He doesn't drive like me with my super soft 52s and 56s on the freeway. It scared the piss out of him the last time he rode with me.

Well, I got some cheap extended brake lines, and got them on and bled, now it has brakes. But, then I pushed it in the backyard so the neighbors don't call the city on me. It will come back out in about a week and a half when I have the tranny ready to go back in.

WooHoo, I got the tranny all back together, It needed a rebuild kit with bushings and thrust washers, and I used the pump from the second case, cause it was bad too.
So, Sun/mon I will be putting it in, with the t-case and drivelines, and hopefully get the front clip on so I can fire her up and take her around the block.

Had to change the intake , I don't trust the thin cast aluminum factory ones ( had 78 Monte intake when I got that 283 ) , they aren't as thick on the mounting rail as aftermarket aluminum , and warp easily .

well, I worked on it this weekend, got the trans I rebuilt in, and the t-case and shafts, then helped paully weld up his frame. Mon I got the linkage hooked up, the shifters on the t-case, and proceeded to bolt up the torque converter. But I couldn't turn the 283:doah:, turns out it was stuck. I think it had some valves rusted shut. After about 2 hours of turning back and forth and pb blasting the cylinders, I got it turning. SO, I went and got some plug wires and an oil filter, and tried to get it running, but the battery wouldn't allow it.

So today I charged the battery, got it crankling crappy, I think the starter is pulling too many amps, and after rerouting the fuel lines on the gas tank, It Started. :D:D:D I don't have a radiator in it yet, so I just fired it up so I could fill the trans up, and made sure that it went into gear, and it did:D:D.
That is all for today, I will get some pics up tomorrow, and get the front clip on it this weekend, then maybe go for a spin in the neighbor hood.

Stuck , I started it every 2 days for a year before I yanked it , and it sat indoors since then . WOW is all I can say . But its an old school 283 with 70's heads , I doubt you could really kill it anyway .

I am happy to know I wired the truck right . So it fired right up with the key ? And did I have it lined up right , or 180 out on the balancer ?

wiring was right, fired up with the key. and the balancer was on, just dropped in the dist.
