I FOUND A SRW DANA 60 NEW OUTER & INNERS NEW BEARINGS,SEALS WITH 4.56 GEARS ETC. FOR 1,800 OR A DRW 4.56 NO NEW STUFF FOR 1,500 ARE THE PRICES TO HIGH OR A GOOD DEAL.
The SRW would be the one to go with. That seems pretty high for my area, but prices differ all around the country. I got mine for $800 but it was a DRW. It had the 4.56's I wanted though, so it was worth it to me.
In southern California that's probably not too bad a price. I got mine for 800 Canadian but I think there's more old 1 ton 4x4's here.(Vancouver Island) due to the forestry industry. The same is probably true in the other locations they're cheaper.
Those prices are pretty steep. Just about anywhere you look unless you find that one killer deal a SRW D60 front will bring $1200.00 and a DRW will bring about $700.00 but then you still need to spend all kinds of money to convert it over to SRW.
I drove 5mi to get my srw 60, new brakes, 4.56 ,spring plates ,u-bolts,only missing 1 hub for $300. then I traded a 454 someone gave me for a '78 chevy short bed 4x4 original 400 truck. to the same guy.
Thanks For The Replys Guys But Here In Los Angeles Its Not As Easy To Find A Dana 60 Unless You Go Out Of State Or Pay Shipping Witch Would Be A Killer And By The Way The Srw Is A Open Diff.
I got an 84 i-ton srw crewcab for $600! No motor or trany but the bed was full of extra parts(motor, trany x 2,drivelines,t-case,ect). lots of cheap chevy parts up here in fact the most I ever spent on a set of 3/4 ton axles was $30
I paid $900 this summer for mine, SRW 4:10s open, everything looked stock. I did get a bit of a deal tho. If everything is new and clean on the SRW I would say 1200-1400. The DRW should be 700-1000. IMO
Well, as I know you know, just the hubs need replacing to convert the DRW to SRW. If I remember correctly, brand new rotors and hubs shipped to my front door was just over $200. Not too much considering the rotors would probably need replacing anyway. Then bearings are always recommended, yada yada yada...
Got my DRW D60 from Long Island for $450. Nowhere near bolt in though, needed going through. I was going to redo it anyway though.
too much! I bought an entire CUCV for 1900 (d60/14FF, 4.56, detroit in rear, 6.2/th400/np208)
I used the axles, the tailgate, the one ton driveshaft (since retired for square)... then I installed my half ton stuff and sold the truck for 1200. you do the math.
I got my Dodge D60 for $150 out the door from the local JY. The only downside is, the axle was apparently used as a boat anchor for the last 20 years. It needs new EVERYTHING.
