As far as water, it's not an issue. I have ran my truck extremely deep and fully submerged the fans (while turned off), drove out of the water and turned them back on immediately. Just make sure you run an off switch so that you can override the temp sensor and turn them off in the water.
This is the #1 reason I'm going elec,No bent blades while crossing a stream.

#2 No throwing water all over the motor , into the HEI ,plug wires and the open element air cleaner.

#3 Its only going to cost me about $40 more than to replace whats missing on there now.

#4 Better cooling here in NM`s summers idling around offroad ,plus I have a lot of stop lights here in town.

#5 Working on the motor if for some reason I need to turn the fan off for a sec I can {using switch in the cab I will use for water crossings}

#6 My last concern is more HP :D

I'd really look into the windstar fans. I have a black magic on my Camaro, and have no complaints at all. However, if I could have gone for a fan that cools at least at well for half the price....I would have done it in a heartbeat. You can even find the windstar fans on Ebay for cheap, with harness.

That's be my vote.

Just be careful if the fan has a thermostat, if you dont set it right there is a good chance that it will come on during the heat of the day and drain your battery.

If you buy one like a Black magic or flex a lite it wont, but your right the Windstar could.

Only if you wire it straight to the battery. You can set it to only operate with keyed ignition power. Just wire the relays correctly, and that won't happen. You can even put in a double throw switch to select from keyed and always hot voltage.

Old post but my question wasn't answered. Will a elec fan from an 01 Grand cherokee work on a k5 with a 350 w/ac? Thanks

The cost to replace my fan shroud is going to be $80 for a 2 peice or $120 for a 1 peice.
Or I can get a elec fan for $144.00.
[and Im not even sure which I need yet.]
So for just $60 at the most I can have a elec fan :)

I have the 270-290 and it is FAN-tastic...lol. But seriously I have had no problems with this bad boy. You can feel it suck the air in while standing in front of your truck. I can take a piece of paper and hold it about a foot away and it will be sucked into the grill. Now thats some serious suction. The temp gauge drops very fast when these fans come on plus they come with a temp. control knob for when you want them to come on. Easy to install as-well. Lots of munting hardware was included. They are built into there own i peice shroud. Top quality stuff.

i would think that could handle a stock sb.... especially if its dual.. obviously mounting may be an issue....

hopefully i'm mounting mine this weekend.. just started the harness tonight, so hopefully the mechanical will go bye-bye on sunday... The windstars huff a good amount of air....

Looks like everyone is setting the electrics up as pullers. This must be the best way, do they work as good as pushers too? I've got more room in front of my radiator than behind it.

If you pull the windstar fans, do you have to have the wiring from the van? Or what about one of Painless's wiring harness? I was looking at the Fan-Thom 2 kit. It's a fan relay w/ thermostat (on @ 200 degrees, off @180 degrees)

The more wiring you can get the better probably.

180/200* off/on sounds too low, unless you are running something like a 160* thermostat. A 195* thermostat would be best served probably coming on at 220*, and off around 210*. Too close to the theoretical "full open" t-stat temp and the fan will cycle way more than it needs to. Too much spread in temp, and it will stay on longer than it needs to as well.
