Opinionon this Welder Please...

I read the thread in the Tool Shed but wanted to know your guys opinion on this welder and the price. What is the box on top of machine. By no means an expert but looking for something bigger than my Lincoln SP135 for thicker metals. Thanks fellas.

Thats a nice welder..i would guess the box on top is a hi-freq unit used for welding aluminum & if thats what it is & its included, thats a good deal, ask if he has a aluminum spool gun that goes w/it if that is indeed a high frequency unit...if he has the alum spool gun(spool of aluminum is in the hand piece),thats a super deal!

That is just a external wire feeder. you can move that around rather than moving the entier machine, within the cables limits anyway. I work in a weld shop and we have them mounted on overhead booms so they can be pulled around the weld stall. As far as the quality of the machine hobart is a pretty good brand and it should weld anything up to haf inch and thicker with multiple passes. I hope that helps.
