well, income tax is coming up...so should i go with re-gearing frt n rr? or go with a axles swap to 1tons. truth be known, truck used for 50% street and just light mudding n trail running. maybe 1ton rr and gears, then just re-gear front 10bolt and 8 lug swap? messing with about $700. thnx ya'll. i know from the lift n stuff there is ALWAYS tons of unseen cost. but since ya'll "been there..done that" thought ya might have some insight. lata. happy wheeling!!

present state...6" procomp springs 10blots frt
4wdfactory shackle flip, ord zero rate rr
35x12.50x15 courser mt's (great tires)

4.56 in 1ton m-series trucks.

but unless your doin the regear your self no way your gona do both axles for 700 bucks.

even good set of 1tons with 4.56 over 700 unless you find the deal of the year.

You didn't say what year truck or what transmission but a set of 3/4 ton axles are a fairly inexpensive swap and will probably get you deeper gears and a good strength upgrade.

where?? and what kind of $ we looking at?

found a truck on CL that has 454, tranny and one tons...for $650!? too good to be true. how can i tell what gears they have inside if i go junk yard method?

If it really has a D60 front that's a VERY good deal, but most people on craigslist have no idea what they really have.

look at the new jersey area craigslist. i scored my D60/D70HD setup for $650. they have 4.10 gears, but thats a HUGE improvement over my current 10 bolts with 3.08 gears :)

better go get that today if its real. even if just 3/4 ton as most think 8 bolt = 1ton on the front.

Seems around here a 60/14 go for around $1200, and you might get lucky with gears and end up with 4.56's. The 4.10' s would be way better than the 3.08's you have.

I re geared my 1/2 and wish I woulda just found some factory diffs

Around here if you search you can find the CUCV axles (60/14,4.56s detroit in the rear) for around 800. You can find them all the time for 1k

my thinking is go as big as you can afford, even if you have to sacrifice a little to do it. Like engines, it will give you more capability and be cheaper in the long run.
