Had a few people commenting about the difficulty of the weekend following Labor Day. I'm curious if moving to the end of September is more appealing to a majority.

The BLM limits our choices not to conflict with other events. The only other choice would be Sept 26-30.

Curious on opinions.

I think the only change that some would be better with is not possible. I know a couple guys up here that would like to go but don't want to take their kids out of school for a couple days ( always nice to get there Thursday) So I don't think later is going to make much of a difference for most

It makes a huge difference, the weather will easily be 10 degrees cooler at the end of september than it is at the beginning :waytogo:

There can also be a lot more rain then.

I actually am fine with it being whenever. Seems like it's a conflict no matter how you slice it for someone.

I'd be down for the end of sept, easier for me than the wknd after labor day

The only thing about changing it is, My employer and everyone else involved with my money making knows that I am not going to be at work that week. Changes can be made only if works for the rest of my crew. We have been planning on the weekend after Labor Day because it has been that way since 2007 for me.

Whatever we do I need to know by the first of the year so I can turn in my vacation request :thumb:

Makes no difference to me on the date, if I can go I do, if not oh well.

I do like the thought of a little cooler weather, but as said it could be rain, like when it was in October. But then if it rains we adapt and overcome. For me it would probably work better as my schedule is usually a little more open later in September.

You would know by the of this month. If we're going to change I'm going to decide sooner rather than later.

When we first moved to September part of the reason was according to weather data October is the rainiest month for Moab. I'm hoping that staying within September will reduce the odds at least relatively speaking.

I have thought often of the kids in school issue having 2 myself. It would be easy if we all had spring break at the same time. I'm afraid of how hot it would be in June.

The other thing I want to be careful of is to make sure it doesn't interfere with ORD's schedule.

I just know the heat on the last day about killed me. I obviously lapsed on my water intake through the weekend and paid for it on Sunday.

I'm just hoping to make for the first time next year. I'm in the same boat as Dustin and Duane and have to bid vacation fairly early in the year. Luckily none of my co-workers take much vacation during the fall months.

Any time is ok with me. Cooler is good, rain is ok, still have to pull kids out of school though

My rig is not rain friendly. If it rains I'm out.while the end of September would be cooler, I think the rain would ruin it for me.

Just put a roof on

I think the only difference would be the weather and it can change alot by then it it already getting into the 40's at night up here. Snow over the summits does not seem like fun for me.

I vote for keeping it the same.

In all the years it was in Oct. there was never a travleing issue due to weather for anyone.

The ONE year that it really rained did suck, sort of, it was also one f the most spectacular weekends as far as desert beauty goes. Watching the waterfalls on hells revenge was just breath taking. What I can remember of it at least:whistle:

Yeah we're not talking about Seattle rainy or anything.

I should clarify a little when I say October is the month of highest average precipitation. We're talking about a low of 0.3" in June and a high of 1" in October. September is 0.7". So even looking at the rainiest month is not a lot of rain.

The average temps are a different story. September is 87F and October 73F. So figuring we're at the end of September, that's probably puts down around 80F.
