Opinions on date change for BB13

I'm OK with either, but we did miss out on the Vegas guys that always go for the full week of Labor Day. It also makes it easier to justify taking a whole week off when one of the days is a holiday :pimp:.

I had doors, windows and heat for the first time this year, so I can't complain about the cold. I did end up using my heat and A/C at different times during the week though.

Ideally I would like to have it a week or 2 earlier in the month, basically hitting it in the middle. I think that might be a decent compromise. However when I tried for those dates last year, the BLM wouldn't let us use those weekends.

The funny thing is I was sure Nicole (wife) would be on board with the cooler temps, but she didn't enjoy the cooler evening at the BBQ. However I do feel that Friday was unseasonably cool for Moab. I thought Sunday night was perfect and noticeably warmer than Friday. So there is always going to be only so much we can do if there happens to be a cold front on the weekend we're there.

If we do have the event on the last weekend again, Nicole and I have discussed renting a couple of standing propane heaters and starting up the fireplace in the pavilion. We've even discussed putting up some wind barriers between the posts on the west side.

I'd also like to point out that the cooler weather brought a lot more bikers/hikers (AKA "Dirty Hippies"). You can ask Chris Perry his thoughts on them :haha:. Moab in general was a lot more crowded than when we did this at the beginning of the month.

I can stay home and get all of the dirty hippies, rain and cold weather I want. I also realize you cant make everyone happy. Me personally, I prefer a warm to hot BB.

Being from Chandler, AZ, 90°F highs are still 10 or so degrees cooler than what we have at that time of year :waytogo:. Plus it's only that hot from about 2-4PM, other than that it's nice out.

That being said, I'd go regardless of when it was.

This is one of those things that you will never win with Scott. Hell even for me both sets of dates have there issues.

I like the cooler weather which makes late Sept. nicer. I prefer not to get rained on which as we all know can happen easily in late September. FYI it never did "snow" anywhere near Moab while we were there. There was some soft hail that fell out at Area BFE for sure but it wasn't snow as the air temps were well above 45 or so degrees.

There is also a local event that we like to try to go to as a family that happens to coincide with the late dates for BB.

In a nut shell I won't bitch either way because both dates have positive and negative points.
