It's that time of year again for my to trade off the truck, just something I do and I like it that way

Went to a dealer on Saturday and they made a great offer on a new 2500HD however I felt like I was low balled for my trade in.

Not totally sure if I was or not so was hoping from some input from people on here that trade/purchase a lot and kinda know the market value of things

I have a 2005 CCSB chevy 2500HD duramax/Allison with the LT loaded interior

106k miles

All leather yada yada just no sun roof or sliding back window.

Mods
6 inch lift
35 inch mud tires
17 inch rims
Cold air
Exhaust
Edge CTS juice with attitude
Remote start
Alarm
iPod radio interface
DVD head rest
Back up camera
Prodigy brake controller

Now I understand that you never get what you put into it but the dealer said the trade value was 20k minus 500
To fix some things. (Driver seat wear, a couple scratches)

Asking them about the ad ons they said the tires and the DVD were were the only things that effected the price, and I asked if I was to take the programmer off would that affect the price and they said no.

So at 20k am I getting hosed by the dealer or is that realistically the price for a used diesel with 106k?

Also not trying to sell in this section so please don't take my intentions of this post the wrong way. Just trying to get some info.

Thats a nice truck...

Sorry Im no help but I can tell you that I know a guy who bought basically that exact truck but stock about 3 years ago and it was worth $26,000 then. Stupid dealer ship mistakenly advertised it for $18,000 and had to honor the price.

Do you know if his was an 05 or a 06-07

I tried to make the argument with the dealer that these trucks are few and far between due to people holding on to them due to the drivetrain combo and the non emissions crap.

However that's more the 06-07 due to them having the LBZ with the 6 speed and I have the LLY with the 5 speed so not as desirable.

So his was marked at 26k (getting it for 18k is amazing good job for him) 3 years ago with that miles so maybe they ain't to far off on their offer

I don't think 20 is a hose job. You may get more if you sell it privately, but not too much. I'm actually in the market for an 06+ D-max, but not in a hurry so I've been looking at the prices alot. I would say your truck is 25-ish private party value. I hope that doesn't hurt your feelings. I really like it.

I like all the add-ons, but I'm the type of guy who wants grandpa's stock D-max. People don't put programmer's on to see how slow it can go...know what I mean?

If you were to trade it, I'd remove all the aftermarket stuff you could, but then you have to deal with selling it all.

Unfortunately for you that is probably a reasonable price for a trade-in at a dealership. A modified truck like that actually has a smaller market as compared to a stock one......not many farmers, construction workers, and grandpa's that want a jacked up truck with a programmer and even those who do want the mods can be scared of the truck because of the unknown history.

Nah no hurt feelings here i have it listed for 26k on Craigslist so I think your throwing out a fair price for it

What I may do is pull everything I can that they won't give me money for. I don't mind sitting on stuff for a couple months trying to sell it rather than just giving it away to the dealer

Good idea. The dealer will never pay you what it's worth because they have to make a profit on it too.

Generally it's a bad idea to trade in a car to a dealer. Sell it yourself.

I sold my almost identical truck for 22,500. Only difference was LB and 3500 SRW. Same milage and worn seat also. That was in September.

So I ended up getting the truck. Talked them down another grand on the truck, then they told me I could take everything off that I wanted so the programmer, brake controller, back up camera and tires and wheels stayed with me (threw on the worn out 37's and black rims from the blaze)

They also are giving me 2 years free Maintenance on the new truck, and tinted the windows for free.

All in all I'm happy, I like the fact that I was able to take a lot of stuff off and the blazer really needed tires so that saved me a bunch ( plus its got some chrome back on it)

Good dealer to deal with, don't feel like I got hosed

Stoked for you, good deal. Glad you're happy with the deal :waytogo:

Ended up going with a ford F150 FX4 with the 5.0

Loved the diesel just didn't really need it. Thought about getting a gasser 3/4 Ton but the F150 will handle they hay hauling I do and I'm close to the mountains so no need to tow the blazer

I'm sure I will get some bashing but the chevy 1/2 tons just don't do it for me. I need a crew cab with a 6 1/2 foot bed and they only offer the shorty. Plus for exactly the same price the ford has a million more options.

What It finally came down to is the trade. The ford and chevy were identically proved but ford offered anther 1k off the price, plus 2 years free maintenance, free window tint and let me take everything off the DMAX. Chevy couldn't touch that

So on to the pics

Maybe in a few years GM will build a real 1/2 ton again or offer a decent price for a 3/4 gasser (3k higher for a LTZ then an F250 FX4)

That's a nice truck. Who cares if its a Ford...
Honestly most of the trucks I load up at work that hold together for more than 150k miles are fords.

Maybe it's the pic but that doesn't look like a 6.5 foot bed to me. Cool truck in any event just cant do goosenecks. Fords have come a long way in efficiency in the last few years so they get respectable MPGs. :waytogo:

I think they are the best looking truck out there right now period. Good deal man. However, I really liked your D-max. I'm glad it worked out for the best for you. Good luck with it.

Thanks guys I like it so far of course I have only put 40 miles on it lol

Idk what the exact measurement is for the bed but I know it's not the shorty buddy has the shorty and between the cab and the front of the rear wheel wheels there is hardly any distance.

My need for it was so that I could put a tool box and still fit a 4wheeler with the tailgate down.

I'm gonna miss that DMAX. Dealership was 40 miles from my home and I thought about all the good times we had towing and kicking the crap out of V8 mustangs lol ( older ones not the new one)

Cousin of mine has a 03 GT and my brother has a 09 v6 camaro. Called them both yesterday and told them I sold the truck so I no longer have the fastest 1/4 mile in the family lol made them happy. Now all that has to happen is they need to figure out which one of them has the quicker ride.

I don't fault you for going with a Ford. Very comfortable truck, quiet inside too.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you go with one of the Ecoboost F150s?
My buddy has one and it tows just as well as his 04 2500HD with the 6.0.
