Opinions please, 6" lift or 4"

Do a front 52" conversion and 4" rear shackle. You will get better flex and ride for a whole lot less. This is of course from my own research.

For just a lift kit I would say 4".

If you wanna do it all the way then 52in fronts, 56in rears with kurts flip switched backwards, crossover, square tube front shaft, inboarded shocks in the rear and ford towers up front.

Definitely 6 inch. I went with the TC 6" EZ rides up front, an ORD shackle flip with 4" EZ rides out back and I still scrape my 35's on the front rear fenders during wheeling. If you go 4", I bet you regret it and want to go higher later.

Move your front axle forward. Personally I think the easiest way to go is 4in springs with zero rates and 6in shackles....

By moving the front hangers or moving the back?

Moving the back hangers wont affect where your axle centerline is only your shackle angle. There are 3 ways to move your axle. Move the front hanger, get an offset zero rate which will also add lift, or redrill your center hole on the springs.

I would recommend the third. I've had bad experience with center pins being under too much stress by offsetting the axle with a zero rate. Both my rear and front bent to crap with everything done and installed properly. Luckily for me the 52's up front put my front axle right where I want it now and I've learned to leave my rear axle where it was.

Won't moving the center hole place the axle farther forward and thereby change the way the spring functions since it isn't centered? I would think moving the front shackles forward would be the way to go to retain the proper movement of the spring but slide the axle forward a couple of inches.

An inch or two doesnt matter as far as the springs go.

Moving the shackle hangar (if thats what your referring to, the rear spring hangar on the frame) will only change the shackle angle. At no point will changing the shackle angle relocated the axle.

As said the front mount sets where the center of the spring is. You can either alter this or alter where the axle mounts on the spring.

Huh, I have a 4" ord lift with a 4" flip and my 37s aren't even close in the back. Slight front trimming on the back of the front fender of should I say hammering.

6".

Gives you incentive to go with a larger tire sooner or later.

No problems with the back tires. It is the fronts that bury themselves periodically into the back of the front fenders when I am turned and compressed. I have 35's and if I had 37's, I am sure it would be worse. It also depends on the springs and shocks you are running. I have TC EZ rides which are pretty soft and Bilstein 5150's on the Ford shock towers so a lot of available compression and movement.

Cut them bitches open to the inner fender!

think it will be a 6 then. I'll check into 52's also. Thanks.

Sorry thatK30guy I quoted the wrong person, I am sure you already knew about the cross over steering. The advice was for jtrapani. So, jtrapani, when you do 52" up front you will have to go with cross over steering, at least that is what I have been told and am planning on.

But my fenders looks so damn pretty right now..... Actually, I wish there was an easy way to cut them back and roll the edges so they looked normal. Somebody should sell fenders that have larger openings than usual in metal and fiberglass. I've seen a couple for sale but they also bulge out the fender and they look like desert runners instead of stock.

Yeah this is a good idea....
