I bought one of the first series of red tops to come out almost ten years ago, It's an 800cca battery, I recently tested it @723cca. I think this battery is going to last forever! truly amazing!cegusman said:Going to order 2 optima batteries soon. They ar going in my k5 with the 6.2 and 2 winches. What color do I need to get?
My red red top had been going solo up until 2 years ago when I got a dual batt. isolator. It did o.k. with light, short winching, but now it has a 600cca A/C Delco to help it out. In my personal opinion, If you are running dual batteries, I would not spend the extra money for a deep cycle aux batt. regular batteries will work fine.Hossbaby50 said:I would do two yellowtops on a truck ment for mostly offroad. 2 reds wouldn't be terrible either though. 1 redtop had gotten my K5 by for years now with no problems. The only time it won't keep up is LONG pulls with my Warn 12K. I only have an 80 amp alternator though which doesn't help its case any.
