ORD Leaf springs & Fox 2.0 performance shocks

These suspension vids make me happy. Who'd a thought a leaf spring could be that cool?!! Fun stuff.

I has your things too.... In the front anyway (second half of video). All 2wd in that as well.

I reffered a guy from silver lake to you this morning. Expect a call for springs and crossover setup :P

Always appreciate it Dueling!

We should never need to use zero rates with custom springs except for after the fact corrections or changes. We can put the center pin where we need it and set the arch to what you need so plan on starting without the zero rates and add as necessary later.

In the order of importance for ride quality springs come first, then shocks so don't be afraid of a white body "lift kit" shock with custom springs. It'll work fine but there is a LOT of room to improve in ride and durability when/if you get to the point you can do it.

I need a set that matches my ford 57 rear springs with the offset pin (25/32 iirc) , so I don't need to remake my anti wrap bar for a 3rd time....

But in reality id probably just link it first....

Dueling seriously with your rig and setup I might be apt to keeping leafs.. For sand and the fact you have bumps etc.. Unless the performance isn't where you want it.. You already did the front soo..???

My thought was price wise, and that I have the capability to link it, as I have done it. I spent like $200 on brand new 57s in the rear, so that is why it stayed leafs. It was a cheap bolt in option and a much better ride. On the other hand, I would probably be really happy with a set of rear ORD springs as I could actually get them to use all of my shock, and benefit from the internal bypass setup. Right now im only getting into the bump zone and not the rebound zone, due to still needing about 2 more inches of droop.

Although it does have fantastic road manners. Alot of linked short wheel base rigs without swaybars seem to have so much body roll, I would be scared to drive them on a regular basis.

I look down the road far enough ahead to not have to swerve. Put your hood back on and stop being mesmerized by the spinning fan.:D

You do have to be careful with rear suspension cost. Good leaf springs + good shocks + traction bars + spring mounting hardware may = similar money to a link system. Especially when you can do the work and enjoy it. Going through the bed floor is typically the key for a coilover setup but it's not terrible to do that as long as you know up front and plan on boxing it in from the start.
Front coilovers are much more involved but of course there are some pretty amazing gains in how they drive and handle to reward the work.

This is what I encountered, I spent500 on used springs and got lucky they were from a k5 already. I hope it works! I have the right parts :)

...one day...:dunno:

Thankfully I am getting some o.t. tomorrow. Congrats Karl! I can't wait to see your rig when it's finished.

Congrats! Now you just have to go through the pain of waiting!
