ORD Motor Mounts and Headers

While on the topic of front shackle hangers. I got a quick question. Mine while bolted to my front leaf springs they don’t sit straight down they are a little diagonal is that normal/ok
Shackle angles can spiral to a whole new internet of information but in general what you're seeing is probably totally fine. Leaves get longer when they are compressed and will push the shackle back. And the other side is that when the spring droops they pull forward a little. Being a few degrees forward isn't a problem.

And to relate this to this thread, one of the things to watch out for is shackle motion with headers, lots of headers are in the way of the shackle especially when you start creating more wheel travel and especially when you use the truck and put some wear on the bushings.

Probably not.
My M1009 came with the drivers front drivers side shackle mount tweaked at the frame.
Either a Marine had some fun.. or the Sheriff that got it after had some fun.
I just put ORD's complete lift kit on which i optioned with new front shackles but i left the tweaked frame mount.
I am no doubt, going to bend it more at some point.
I will revisit the issue when it happens.
For now, the truck steers straight, handles beautifully, and the steering returns to center.
Gives it character.
I made up a story for it.. A Marine had just run over the Taliban with this m1009 but didn't see the sidewinder missile till it was too late.
Kinda scratched the camo paint a little and tweaked that driver side shackle.
Of course the 6.2 diesel just kept chugging along.

WOW :yikes: @K5wrench . . .

reminds me of the left front frame horn on my 2 wheel burn build project . the was 3/4" out wide and about 5* tipped .

i pulled it all back with basic shop tools and lots of HEAT .

Probably not.

This is how both my front ones are think it’s ok

In my case, the frame rail is tweaked right where that shackle mount goes through.
I could put a new upper shackle mount but without fixing the frame, it would still be tweaked.
Some Marine probably drove into a ditch or got hung up on a rock.
Front wheel went over whatever it was and slammed down right on the shackles.
They were bent too until i swapped them for ORD shackles.
Actually, one of my bent shackles is now welded to a log skidder.. when the loggers were here, they lost a pin keeper on the skidder.
Turns out that a Chevy front shackle fits perfectly in the retainer groove of a John Deere log skidder.
I offered to extract the broken bolt but the logger said just weld it on.

Probably not.

As a side note, I would double check those u bolts because it looks like the spring pack is walking apart like it's loose.

I'll torque em down.
Probably time to grease the ORD bushings as well.

I’ll throw up some pictures when I get home later but my only issue is I have no clue the brand on leaf springs on it. To hook up the springs I pulled off of my parts truck I had to undo the driveshaft to get the bolts to line up with the shackles. My frame rail isn’t tweaked I have bushing that stick out a decent bit but they still fit in the front shackle fine. I’ve also put as much weight into the torque wrench as my little skinny ass can it helped straighten them a little
