ORD twin stick 203

I can dm my number and maybe face-time and figure this out...

20sec video:

As you can see I have Neutral both stick lined up, but not really anything pushing the inner lever forward. I can go from the position in the video, then 2 detent towards driver, with the inner lever.

Outer lever works great
The inner lever is only 2 positions on or off.

So is that “extra position” just over travel caused by the part time kit? Both of my np203 do this as evidenced with the one in my truck;

I went and had my wife shift in the truck while I hand spun the front drive shaft. All seems to be as it should and there may just be over travel from the part time kit. (As assumed by ORD through email) As both of my NP203’s with the conversion exhibit.

Lastly,
Where are my shifters to be positioned for daily driving?
Do I lock my hubs for daily driving?
Do I lock the front hubs when Im in 2wd?
Is my driver side shifter in LOC or UnLoc?
Where is my passenger side? Lo or Hi
 
For best results, since it seems you have the part time kit in, for highway driving:
Hubs: Unlocked. This disconnects the wheels from the axles so they don't drive them and use extra energy.
Driver Side Shifter: UnLoc: This keeps the transfer case from driving the front shaft and the entire front end, also using energy.
Passenger Side: Hi, since you need to go faster than about 20 mph.
Plus, normally the internals of the transfer case will not let you shift into Lo unless the other shifter is in Loc, or out of Loc unless the other shifter is in neutral or Hi.
That part has nothing to do with the twin stick kit, its built into the transfer case.
 
I'll cross communication systems here since you're monitoring this and email and this could help someone else out too.

The hi-N-lo shifter literally shifts it through those gears. Hi sends transmission shaft speed straight to the rear driveshaft and is your highway gear. Basically in this position the transfer case is just there waiting for you to need it, it's not changing drivetrain speed or torque. When it's in low the driveshafts spin half the speed of the trans shaft so you get more torque and lower travel speed. The gear ratio is 2:1 so you'll go half the speed when you're in low gear so it will be pretty obvious.

With a part time kit, Loc = 4wd and UnLoc = rear wheel drive. You can use these positions in high gear or low gear without problems. Your street gear will be UnLoc to avoid all kinds of problems associated with driving in 4wd on the street. Loc (4wd) is only for low traction surfaces where the tires will slip a little while turning.

You only need to lock the hubs when you want 4wd. You'll put the T-case in Loc and engage hubs and front and rear axles will get drive power.

Keep in mind that any alignment between the 2 sticks in any position is just for your convenience. They don't have to line up when they're in "highway mode" for example but you may want to adjust them that way if you like.

Thanks a million. You guys helped out a lot. The twin stick install was easy, took me about an hour. Your product replaces a jammed and well worn single shifter. Now I can shift with my finger tip, instead of kicking it with my right foot. Hahahahjaa

Ill fire it up later and hopefully everything engages as it does when off.... hahahah

Tranny hump took a bit of cutting to make the plate sit flush.. My original tranny hump, I wasnt happy with my cut, got a bit too excited and cut to much. Thankfully, I found one locally on offer up. Paid better attention to my cut, sanded and clean. Applied some Herculiner, installed.
I did put a smidge of grease on the sticks so they slide better in the boot.

Fire it up next week and, fingers crossed I can move the truck.

Just to update. Finally fired up the blazer after installing the ORD twin stick for the NP203. It works great, smooth and effortless shift.

I just danced back and forth in the garage, moving 4-5ft in both directions. Im working on other stuff on the truck, so couldnt really go for a drive.

Before the truck wouldnt move, or jump into gear. Now it shifts into R D P and actually drives. For whatever reason the shifts in the tranny are smoother?

Some more tests and tranny fix but things seem to moving forward..... for now. Its always a struggle.

I did notice another darn sound but that could be because I haven’t fired it up in like 6 weeks. Probably cold.. i hope

I just took advantage of the sale and ordered mine. I’m debating on whether to pull the tc out or if I should just try to install it in the truck.
