Is there a way to find out what dealer originally sold my Jimmy? Maybe a VIN lookup service exists for this, but I really don't know.

I think most dealers have a way to look that up I know Fca
Does not sure about gm.
@ZooMad75
I can see data on cars/trucks going back about 20 years. But beyond that, the dealers can't see it.

But it's not to say that GM doesn't have the data. It's just gonna cost anybody $50. They can go back as far as '77 for Chevy and '76 for GMC. See the following link:

That's interesting that they've kept all those original sales records. Cadillac even goes back to 1903!

But for $50, I'll pass. I'm kind of a tightwad.

I am too. I'm curious about mine, but not $50 curious. I can spend that better on the truck.

Are records go back at least 30 years electronically that I can look up,got to be able to see all the open recalls. Lol.

I've pulled up cars in the warranty system that date back to the mid to late '90s that still have recalls open. But if it doesn't have a recall I typically can't pull it up.

Case in point, I can pull up my '97 S10 in the warranty system, but can't see my '91 Blazer. 3 or 4 years ago I could pull up my '91 in the parts system, then GM dropped off the older stuff. I've always been able to see the '97 in the parts system, but they have stopped breaking down the VIN number in there too.

For some reason the previous owners of my 66 and 73 felt like they needed to keep the original dealer metal plate on the trucks. It was kinda funny the guy we bought the 66 from was real proud of it. :dunno: I took them off.

Yeah, I'd like to know where it was originally sold so I can buy and install a metal dealership emblem on back. Different strokes

You could pretend it came from Loveland and I can hook you up with vintage dealer emblems.

I forgot they both came from the same dealer.

First thing I always do it rip that shit off. They don't pay me. Why should I advertise for them?
Of course under that thinking I should debadge the whole vehicle.
But also because dealer badges are ugly.

That's cool. Davidson was the partner to Lindner when they started the dealer where I work back in 1968. It was known then as Davison-Lindner Chevrolet. By 1976 the Lindners bought out Davidson.

Our dealer badges use the same script as those badges.

I'm not a fan of running them either but I do like finding obscure ones on cars at shows or in the boneyard. I wish I started collecting them as a kid because I'd have hundreds by now.

Since we are on the subject, if anyone comes across a "Curtis Chevrolet" tag I would buy it. They were in Brush Colo, closed down in the early 80s I believe.
