Hey guys, I have an issue where I need to change out the output shaft seal and need help with identifying what seal I need.

It's a 1989 K5 Blazer (all stock), when checking Rock Auto I'm completely confused as to what seal I need to get.

I did order one that I thought it might be, but it's the wrong size etc.

What I need is the one for the shaft out of the transfer case where you can slide the yoke out by removing the 4 bolts in the rear.

I'd really appreciate some help, thanks!

P.S. I'm in Holland so nothing around here where I could just pop in and ask :-)

Look on your t case for a round tag silver and red(originally) for model.

which number did you order that was wrong?

We'll figure this out

Thanks Wes, here's what I got.

And it looks like something is missing from the shaft, but I'm not 100%. The green ring I assume is the seal?

Yes, that should be the seal and bushing that you are looking for - the bushing is inside of that tail housing and should be replaced along with the seal for maximum life span.

And your transfer case is a New Process model 241-C if you need to know that while ordering parts.

That looks like a match. Messuring the drive shaft slip yoke will add extra conformation.
inorder to replace the bushing the tail housing will need to be removed. So you will need a gasket or some kund of sealer for that flange.
a proper size bushing driver and small abor type press are desirable for the bushing work

Thanks guys for the great help and tips!

Found this about the NP241C...

I (think) now understand what I need to do!

Order...
Then...
  • Unbolt and remove the adaptor housing
  • Replace the bushing and seal
  • Replace the housing seal

Awesome!

Be careful with that tail-housing. The ears that the bolts go through like to crack and break off.
