Over boosted power steering

Yep youngsters, learned alignment from the computer on the machine.
We older fellas had a tape measure and some string, maybe a caster camber guage.
I must have missed the post with results from the shop. Did they give the actual caster measurement?
The reason I ask, is there is probably going to be compromise. When you start modifying you have to make choices.
It is tough for some of these "Front end" guys to figure it out when the computer can't tell them.
After you get it back check your u bolts and retorque as nesassary.

Thanks for the video it was good. I have a Dana 60... I wish they had something cool like that for a 60. Just talked to the guy. He told me to fix the caster I would need to cut off the mount and spin the axle. I told him the passenger side perch is part of the diff casting and that’s not going to happen. I also explained to him what shims are and how one of his associates told me they had them and they could do it. The ole bait and switch. I ordered the right degree shims from a spring shop called John r spring in Troy mi. Guy new exactly what I was talking about. So I’ll put them in and give an update. As for the belle tire in Roseville Michigan they can shove it. This guy tried to convince me it was safe and road worthy. I told him we will speak in person when I get off work. I drove it this morning and in no way is it safe or road worthy.

You'll need to watch your u joint angles, but caster is more important. May have to live with bad u joint angles, or invest more $$ to correct

Obviously they didn't want to deal with. So instead of saying so, they claimed it was ok. Since modified truck, no skin off their nose safe or not.

I just mad they wasted my time and money. That’s bad business. You now what they say “if you want something done right do it yourself.” As far as the bad u joint angle- it’s the front so it won’t see as many miles as the rear so hopefully it won’t matter to much. Maybe under extreme load it will pop. I’m in industry that tech knowledge is taken seriously and I have to face the people I speak to daily. Bullshitting around wouldn’t make it pass the doorstep in my profession. Unfortunately I’m seeing more crap customer service daily... it’s sad

They said it was 2.7 degrees out of the allowable spec. I bought some 2&3 degree shims. I’ll try both and if needed buy larger degree shims.

That's quite a bit. I would think if you can get the caster to +3.5 it should be much better

It doesn’t look bad... meaning the pinion angle looks fine. But my eyes aren’t lazers so that’s worth much.

Is there wedges under the front springs now and if so what degrees, and how much lift.

I've always been told to never put wedges under the front springs and that if you wanted to adjust caster up front it was either cut and weld the spring perches or the knuckles.

Can’t cut and weld the diff. I could do the knuckles but I’ll try the wedges first. I will be bolting them to the spring pack so I don’t see why it would be a problem.

If it really becomes a problem I can weld the shims to the axle or try different springs.

Here are the results from the alignment . Belle tire refunded my money so I take back what I said earlier.

Wow that's a lot of caster spec'd out.
It drives squirrelly with @ 6* of positive caster? It doesn't seem right to me.
Is it a death wobble, or just dance in lane?

Dancing in the lane. Some times it feels like speed wobbles and I have to let off the gas.... but not death wobble.

Some times it’s hard to keep in the lane. Girlfriend followed me to belle tire twice and said it looked like I was driving drunk.

Have you double checked all the torque on the bolts - suspension and steering?
No... cause I just finished it on Thursday night. Drove it around 20miles Friday and it went to the shop Saturday morning. I’ll check everything again tomorrow. But I would imagine it’s all tight. Especially since it’s done this since I first took it out.
