For a daily driver that might get smacked by a bush or 2, and will be dirty for 6 months out of the year, would it be better to do a single stage, or 2 stage paint? My understanding of paint is that single stage will dull and fade faster than 2 stage, but its easier to touchup. I'm picturing buffing it out and waxing it once a year, and touching up a scratch or 2. I'm probably gonna go with a solid color, like yellow or blue, maybe with a little metallic in it.

Its also my understanding that single stage is easier to shoot for a novice. What say the paint pro's?

actually, everything you thought, is the opposite, other than the fading... the big difference is base/clear costs a fair amount more... but it's much easier to spot in/repair, stays shiny longer and is the only way to shoot metallic... not that you can't shoot single stage metallic it's just not advisable, especially for a novice..

also base/clear is actually easier to paint.. the base color, a monkey can spray, the clear is all you need to worry about... whereas single, you have to worry about getting color coverage and the shine all in one deal.. but also, if you f*ck up the clear, it'll be more costly to redo..

Singles also take forever to dry compared to b/c paints...something to think about depending on where your doing your painting.
