Hey I was wondering what your guys' opinions would be....I have an np241 that I took a wire wheel to clean off 18yrs of crap. Well its all shiny right now. Its aluminum right? Would you guys leave it shiny or paint it? And if you paint it what would you use?
Thankya!

why paint it? do you want people to be impressed by your pretty transfer case if you roll your truck?

I would not paint any aluminum part. Things that are made of aluminum are made that way for a reason. Aluminum disappates heat but if you paint it then it traps the heat in.

I was thinking the same about the heat dissapation with the aluminum. But as I was cleaning it I was taking off a black paint. So I wasn't sure if I should cover it again, I don't want to I like the shiny look

If you wire wheeled it, it's probably not going to stay shiny for very long. You tend to open up the pores in the surface when you do stuff like that, and it'll oxidize back to a semi-dull finish over a little time.
