I'm going to pick up two of the Plasma cutter tomorrow. One for me and one for Marv.

I will post up when we use them some.

I had a Mitech cut 40 (same machine) for awhile. If you have ever used a high dollar plasma before you know that as soon as you push the trigger the arc starts. Not with these invertor types. So if you have painted metal it is a PAIN IN THE ASS to get it to start to cut.
It would cut 1/4" and 3/8" like butter. 1/2" was slow but it cut it.
For the money its a decent machine. But you do get what you pay for. I had 2 before this one and they both blew out within a day or so. I got them warranted but it was still a big headache.

I have not had a chance to play with mine yet. I do not expect this to be a $1200+ tool, but it will be better than what I have now.

Why worry about how great Snap-on is if you can only afford Craftsman.

I got my Plasma / TIG / stick up and running yesterday. I dont have any real welding experience but I'm trying to learn. I have never used a plasma cutter before so I had fun playing with it. I messed up the tig welder did not have it set up right so I need a couple of parts before I can use it. Stick welder worked good but you go through sticks like crazy. Only complaint is the directions are not that great for setting up the TIG. I think it will be a good machine for me to get my feet wet in welding. I will say that the guys at Parker have been very helpful so far. Here is pic of my set up so I can run Air and Argon without changing hoses. I need to build a cart so this won't be my final set up. I cut some sheet metal that was primered I think it cut well but I need a lot more practice.

I finally went and picked this up.

First off the details.

  1. The price is no longer $299.00 that was for the scratch and dent models and they are long gone. The guys on Pirate got them all.
  2. The new pricing is $399.00 and that does not include tax or packaging/you picked it up in person charge. Out the door it was $465.00 for me and that includes tax and the packaging charge.
  3. It does come with a regulator/filter/dryer, and additional consumables.
  4. It does not come with a plug for the cord
  5. If you pick up in person he starts it up and cuts some 1/2" material for you/or you can try it out. The are very proud of these units and rightly so.
  6. They know what they are doing, and are easy to communicate with.
On to the good stuff:

Got it hooked up tonight, it's very easy to hook up the regulator/filter/dryer, took about 10 minutes total, including wiring the plug.

Cranked up the compressor and hit the button.:D :D :D

It worked waaaaaaaaaaay better than I thought it would.

This unit based on the first cuts I made on tube, works very good, more like GREAT!

I am very happy with this purchase, and at this point reccomend it highly.

For $465.00 this is very much so worth the money.
