Parting Out '87 Suburban 454, Almost no rust!

Sorry I've been away for a bit, laptop crashed.

I pulled most of the parts months ago and was getting ready to haul the carcass away but then got really busy with work (7 days a week). The beast sat in my garage much to my wife's chagrin.

I needed the garage back for hunting season so a couple of weeks ago, I took off a Saturday and got 'er done.

I didn't leave a lot for the yard, picked it pretty clean. I wanted to cut out the pristine floor pans, but they were the structure holding it all together once I chopped out sections of the frame. Once I had it on the trailer, I ran out of time. Apologies to the rust belt guys who could have used the pans.

What you don't see in the pics above is my garage full of parts. I'll try to get them inventoried and post some pics so you can see what I've got.

In a nutshell: front clip, rear axle, steering column, instrument cluster and bezel, 3 rows of seats, console, hvac system, rear AC module, 2wd steering box (needed for 4x4 crossover steering), some of the seat belts, exterior trim, interior trim, glove box, visors, etc. Fan shroud, 454 radiator (large), AC condensor, oil cooler, trans cooler with auxiliary fan, drive shaft....and more.

Let me get back to everyone who has requested parts:

cwn anwyn - 40 gallon fuel tank, sender, tbi fuel pump, tank straps. Still have them. Wife might be able to bring them with her to Denver in the next week or so. $95

K85 Octane: Complete accessory set, belts, pulleys, brackets, accessories. Still have them, $100 plus shipping.

ThaMule: Power Steering Brackets. If K85 doesn't take the set, the PS brackets are yours for $15 shipped if you still want them.

Kid Jethro: Bezel and Gauges. Still have them, $60 plus shipping.

Spirk: Rear axle. Still have it if your interested. Full floater, 14-bolt. 3.73 gears.

JakeSnake785 and cdoggwsu - Bumper guards: I just picked up an '86 4x4 1/2 ton Sub. It needs the front bumper and passenger front quarter. I'm going to use them on this truck. Sorry guys.

Indy4x4Fab - Dash pad is cracked in a couple of places. I still have it, if you want pics, let me know. Drivers side rear armrest is in good shape, $15 plus shipping.

Mikkelsen - Fuel lines: I've got an old truck that deperately needs new lines. It won't run without them. I need to hang on to them. Sorry man.

mrluhman - Hood plus ornament, ship to Iowa: I'll go $85 plus shipping. To get it there undamaged would require me to construct a crate of some kind which would cost extra. If you or a friend happen to be coming through Colorado, I could bring it to I-70 in Glenwood Springs for $15 in gas. Otherwise, I think the crating and shipping is going to be expensive. Let me know if you've got some ideas.

USSKoval - Spot welded seat mounts: Went to the yard. Sorry.

Blazin Blazer - Hood ornament: If mrluhman doesn't take it with the hood in the next week, it's yours for $15, shipping included to reward your patience and persistence. :waytogo:

howdiy - drive shaft: This was a 2wd 3/4 ton. The rear driveshaft is two-piece with a carrier bearing, u-joints on both ends. Is this what you're looking for? I taped the caps on the u-joints so the needle bearings wouldn't fall out, I think they are usable as is. $45 plus shipping.

Anyone I'm forgetting?

Not a prob man, thanks for the update.

Man I wish I was closer, I'd love to get those seats and console!

You can cross me off the list for the gauges/bezel. I found some already. Thanks though. :)

Yep that is the right shaft, I converted my 3/4 ton suburban to 4wd. My zip is 34202

Thanks for the update! I am still intersted in the hood and your price is more than reasonable. I have a post on craigslist for one local but otherwise I may just cruise out to denver to pick it up. If someone snags it before then i understand too. Shipping these big parts just sucks. Price aside there is just no guarantee that it will get here undamaged.

Checked shipping today, UPS Ground. The rate they came back with was ridiculous: $145 It's heavy and long (over 6ft).

If I take it apart at the middle u-joint, which will take some time, shipping drops to $56.

Do you need the entire assembly or just one of the sections? We could also cut some weight and the shipping cost if you only need the front or rear section.

I only need the back part, it should slide right off the slip yoke. Check USPS, they seem to be way cheaper.

I want to buy all 4 of the headlamps including the buckets, screws, springs, and anything else that mounts them to the core support. How much for that shipped to VA 20164?

Can you do me a favor and measure them and confirm the headlights are 165mm wide and about 106mm high first? :D I am pretty sure they are but I'm doing a custom project so I need 165mm headlight buckets.

Sorry for the late reply...been tied up with work and the holidays.

About a month ago, I was up in the mountains Christmas tree hunting.
Those trees can get pretty aggressive when you come after them with a saw. One of them reached out and crunched a fender and a headlight bucket on my other Sub. :doah:

I'm going to need these parts to put mine back together.

do you still have the hitch?? if so would you post a pic... thanks
