I find myself hoarding parts for these trucks more and more. For example recently I was getting some oil seals at a parts store I hadn't been to in some time. Turns out they had some old National Oil Seals that were made in the USA. All I had seen as of late were mexico or tiawan seals. I asked how many they had on the shelf and bought all of them. Now I'm set for wheel bearing repacks. Just a few years ago I would have only gotten what I needed for the job. Now I'm thinking this may be the last chance to get these parts before they go offshore or on the cheap. For example if I had known they were going to discontinue the PF35 I would have bought a lifetime of oil filters. Any one else doing the same?

Dont blame the country that manufactures the piece, blame the brand company...cheap ****s send their plans, matrials and machines and manufacture where labor is cheap.....same standards as they always argue, but still there are places better than others like bearings, ive notinced the ones made in Mexico are better compared to the ones from Spain or China so that was a learning process for me.

I'm not one for hoarding anything, mostly because the extras I have usually go unused. But for the past few months my wife and I have been trying to buy as much as we can that's made in the US and Canada... A month ago my brother in law was complaining about our economy and unemployment, but he and his wife just bought a Hyundai and a Toyota, I don't care where they are assembled, you look under the hood of a Nissan, toyota, Honda, whatever... almost all the parts are made overseas... You get the point, this is the wrong forum for my opinion... If no one buys these parts and instead always buys the cheap imported junk, yes the good stuff will disappear along with the jobs!!! Just think, maybe an unemployed seal maker was called back to work because you caused a run on seals the other day...

I was thinking about this recently, but more along the lines of replacement parts specific to our trucks and how long they would be available- or how long quality replacement parts would be around. I'm reading a lot lately about the decreased quality of LMC stuff (which i've experienced too)

Things like dash pads, seat belts, original trim pieces, hub caps....

makes me want to pick up some more rigs- both nice and parts rigs to hoard parts and preserve a few nice ones before the prius drivers of the world rise up and send all our rigs to the crusher...

as for stuff made in the USA or not- thats a whole nother issue...
