Parts Yard Pics

Oh...I don't know how high their prices are for stuff like that...seems like they have different prices depending on the day and who is at the counter...there are no posted prices, they just tell you when you bring your parts.

Hey Chief, check and see if there are any tilt steering columns with pulse wipers that will fit an '84 blazer.

Besides the column switch/turn lever there is a little box that goes in between the wires under the insp plate in dash. Easy upgrade on any tilt column.

there are no door panels worth getting...seems someone was mangled them getting the window regulators...all the wood panels are severely damaged

The side emblems would likely have to be broken off...with no wheels and most low into the ground it's impossible to get to the speed nuts.

How do you remove them? screwdiver, small pry bar?

Gotta love jerks who destroy a door panel to get at the "guts",not caring if the next person was looking for a good one, when 30 seconds more could have taken it off with no damage..(workers at the yards are often no better though!)--I see perfect frames torched off a lot, when someone wanted a rear diff, they carve out the spring hangers and sell the springs with it..why not just cut the u-bolts?..or spend a few minutes torching the rivets off so someone else that needs a frame has a chance?..

The front fender emblems are taken off from under the hood,it sucks to get at the pal nuts and you'll probably need to use a small box end or open end wrench (3/8" or 7/16" I think, might be 10MM on trucks after '81 or so)...
I used to wear thin work gloves when removing them because your likely to scar up your hands in the removal process some..
Some guys used hacksaw blades to carefully saw off the pins, and use 3M double sided foam tape to stick them back on--but most purists covet original emblems with the pins intact--few ever come off without breaking at least one of the pins though..

I also used to tape a flat magnet to my palm to lessen the chances of my wrench falling down inside the abyss inside the lower rear part of the front fender..drop one down there and you may as well forget seeing it again unless you bring one of those flexy magnet retriever tool with you..

Got to be honest...I tried everything to put mine on with speed nuts...there's no way in there without removing the fender...plus...I need to look at what is being re-pop and leave those alone because nobody will pay for an emblem they can get new...most old emblems have pitting and missing chrome...

Yeah I always get mad when I'm at a yard and the door panels are all broken and stuff because someone wanted to get into the door.

And yes, the fender emblems require you to unbolt the fender and pull it away from the truck (at least for the 73-80 trucks). If I remember correctly the only 73-80 emblems that are reproduced anymore are the 73-74 "Cheyenne Super 10" emblems and then the 75-80 "Custom Deluxe 10" and "Scottsdale 10" emblems. So if you can manage to get any of the others off I'd take them!

Its too bad it looks like the body side trim on that 73-80 dually is messed up, that trim on the bed and dually fender is almost impossible to come by.

Even with pins busted off they sell on eBay! The ones on the DP burb they knocked the pins off and are no held on by body molding tape. Cant tell difference.

What's the most you would pay the parts yard for emblems?

Since you're pulling them yourself I'd say $10-15 maybe? Before all the yards here jacked their prices all way up I never paid more than that, sometimes they'd even just let me take them for free.

Well I went up to $20 on a set when I thought I needed one. A NOS one sells for $90
