does anyone know where to find one? I did a search here but only one thread came up and there wasnt anything in that thread. I also did a google search, no luck there either. :doah: I need the skematics for my electrical system.

Surprisingly enough I couldnt find anything even on demonoid which is like the num 1 torrent site on the web. Could always just download a cracked copy of alldata. The full service manual digitized is on there.

What particular electrical system are you having trouble with?
ok, everyone will get a good laugh outta this one. :doah: I had gotten back from my morning Jiu Jitsu class and I was gonna take the truck to get registered at the DMV. Remember is about 115 out here. I opened the hood and threw the battery in. Put the negative terminal on and it didnt fit right so I pursueded it a little. (this shoulda been the first clue!) As soon as I touch the positive terminal I get sparks and a Little smoke from behind the air cleaner. Fark!!!! I quickly realized I put the god damn batterey in backwards!!!!! I disconnect the battery and turn it around. I got to start the truck and get nothing!!!! so yesterday I call a buddy over and we start testing ****. But we couldnt find the main fuse. Thus the reason for a pdf manual. After talking to the guy @ autozone and buyin a manual, then coming on here and getting the pdf version that was posted I figured out that its not a normal big arse fuse but a fuse line. So possibly tonight Im gonna go test it and hopefully thats the problem! :o

on a side note this trucks wiring is all ****ered up underneath the dash and engine bay. there was once an alarm on the truck that seems partially still there. theres an pioneer stereo that replaced the previuos stereo that was yanked out! theres now a Garmin navigation unit. and who knows what else. the first words outta my buddies mouth when he looked under the dash were " for ****'s sake!"

Check your fusible links in the harness. On my 84 K5 they were on the firewall, just inboard of the vacuum booster/master cylinder. My truck shorted out once and did the same thing yours did. I had one fusible link get toasted. I cut it out and replaced it and have been fine since.:D

is that the two post thing on the fire wall? There was a bad connection there but we fixed it yesterday and I went out to test it after you posted this and it was good.

There are several fusible links hooked up to the battery feed stud of the starter solenoid to draw power straight from the battery and several that run off the distribution block up on the firewall.

Chances are you blew the ones just off the starter

i have a chiltons for my truck.. the electrical sucks... or non existant if i remember.....

ok.......
ggggrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent last 3 hrs this morning trying to find the problem and nothing! :doah:
we checked the fusible link from the starter to the fuse box. It was good.

we routed power to the starter and the started started running.

heres what were thinking. If I hooked the battery up backwards, then I routed power backwards. Could I have blown the ignition switch??? Before I even got to the fuse box??? theres power from the battery into the fuse box but no blow fuses.

I hope this is making sence cus Im really fuggin frustrated!!!!

Im really needing some help here!

do I gotta take apart the steering column to get to the ignition switch and how much of a pain in the arse is that gonna be?

Is the whole truck dead or just the starter? Do you have 12V at the starter main terminal? Do you have 12V at the solenoid terminal when the key turns to "start"?

Start following each of the fusible links after that to see where they go and verify that each place is getting power.

we checked the battery first, then the fusible link to the starter then the fusible link from the start to the firewall, both terminals on the firewall, then every red wire into the back of the fuse box. All checked out ok. When I turn the key I get nothing, no noise, no clicking noise nothing. So we routed power directly to the starter and it was working.

Just went through this with mine. (never connect cables in the dark) Ryoken came over and found a wire that was just below the two stud terminal on the firewall was melted. Ran a new wire, and its fine now. It was bundled with a bunch of other wires ( Trailer wiring i believe), so make sure you look at all of them.
