Yeah I caught the Photobucket ransom last night when I tried to load 3 pics to my build page. Saw they wanted 400 bucks and I said FU and loaded them up to an account I started on Flickr. Bastards. I don't see many spending 400 a year on image hosting when you have SO many other options. Unless they make a quick 180, it's going downhill fast.

For the life of me I can not figure out why so many members use any sort of third party.
It's so easy to upload pictures right to the site.

I did, lost them all in the last software transition which sucked. I'll probably use ck5 again when and if my pb account is compromised.

I've got about 3000 photos linked to my PB account in the "Might As Well" thread....

Not super stoked about the prospect of fixing that many broken photo links, and certainly don't have the time anyway.

If there was a "scraping utility" that could grab all the PB photo links, and repost them in some other gallery and repair all the broken photo links that would be sweet

So all the people with the PB problems, the ONLY option is to pay $400? You can't do the $2.95/mon like I have? I just uploaded 3 photos without getting a ransom notice.

I pay $25/yr for extra PB bandwidth and haven't gotten any ransom emails either (yet)

So far... the MAW thread is not destroyed

I've known PB was going downhill for a while. First it all of a suddenly was inundated with ads, then they updated the site and it got much harder to use. I stopped uploading photos there once I got Dropbox. Now my free Dropbox is full and now I'm using Google images unlimited for free. (We'll see how long that unlimited really lasts though...) The problem with the both of those is that they are only cloud storage and not image hosting so all my recent photos are uploaded straight to CK5.

The problem is that I used PB as my original way to backup my photos and now many different computers and devices later I no longer have the originals for anything older than say 2011 or so. I'm going to have to download all my thousands of photos to an actual hard drive because let's face it, tech changes so quick that whatever imagine hosting that you're using now will be obsolete in 5 years. Don't trust the "Cloud"
 
So I won't be able to get into my PB unless I pay the $400!?!?!??!?! I can't even open my libary!
 
I just deleted all of my photos and videos off of PB and it is still telling me that my storage is 33% full.
 
FWIW I was able to download all my PB photos through the web interface and delete my account.

I haven't checked my stuff yet but me thinks that's my plan. Who in the crap is gonna pay that!

Started doing that. Just spent an hour cleaning shit out of it and saving a bunch. Will finish after dinner.

That kind of utility would be super useful. Photobucket has been acting up lately. I can't post pictures the same way as I used to.

If you have photos on PB that are not backed up on a computer or some other source you can download them onto your computer. Bookface sucks
 
Hopefully in bulk. I immediately got frustrated using the website and at that moment came to terms with never being able to see those pics again. I'd like to have them still though. Not gonna pay for em.

Yes, each album is a single download. When your viewing an album you'll see a download icon on the left. Then a captcha window will pop up. Be patient, the site is stupid slow....
