Ok i just put a 454 in my 85 k5 and there is no way the exhaust is gonna work need ideas and pics of other 454 installed especially around the frame and exhaust. Thanks Denny

I'll see what I can find for pics of my truck. The 454 is stock in mine but the exaust is custom due to the headers I have, which are junk.

Thats what i was thinking but what application do i go for its a 95 tbi motor in a 85 k5 frame? When it comes to big blocks i am in the dark.

Time to call up the boys at summit racing, I think Craig Artzner or Paullyworks for summit answering the n00b line...:D
find Artzner in the lounge

Right off the top of my head I would think that the same headers that go in say a '91 Suburban w/TBI 454. I'll check around...I don't think the TBI makes a difference.

Here are the p/ns that I list as "engine swap" headers from Hedman. You can take each of these p/ns and plug them into Summit's website and decide which one would be best for what you have based on description. These three p/ns list for a big block Chevy engine swap in that '85 Blazer:

HED-69280
HED-69281
HED-69287

Hope that helps...those p/ns are for the painted headers.

Round head exhaust ports, then hedman will work and if you got square ones then you will have to use hooker headers. That is what I got. Thats if you are choosing to go with headers or not:) Headman don't sell round ports.

Not necessarily. If you're wanting to everything to be perfectly port-matched then yes. But as long as the gaskets match the header port and the headers will bolt up, most headers will seal with no issue. There are exceptions, like Pontiac Ram Air heads. I deal with this issue every other day.:o

A lot of people were using hedman 68610 and here is a link to pics of the them installed.

I used Edelbrocks but had to trim the fram rail to install on the drivers side. Any of the specific to your truck BBC headers will work with a TBI head. The different brands all have varying clearances and I chose shorties for shackle clearance and they tuck up real high in the frame. Vortec headers will be different as they have and egr port on the drivers side that you would have to plug. In addition they are for 88-98 trucks and won't fit your frame unless you grind. Edelbrocks hit on the drivers side and JBA's hit on the passenger side (a lot). Sorry for the detail.

Thank you very much for the help guys. I am not sure what brand the headers are that came with it but i know they are not right and really didn't want to weaken the frame but trimming it. Thanks Denny
