PICS and QUESTIONS

Without a cv rear shaft your pinion and t/case shaft ned to be at the same angle really. ie: if your t/case shaft was level to the ground, your pinion should be too so that both UJs operate at the same angle. If you're not worried about vibes and are only running at low speed then I don't think you have a problem. There's nothing you can do about the front anyway without cutting off and re-welding your knuckles
.
Just bear in mind that when you nail it that rear pinion is going to want to point skyward, making that angle even greater.

Of course, your pinion doesnt need to be pointed down at the same angle, it can be pointed up, which it might be, but we would need to see what your angle is at the t-case too. If its pointed down as much as your axle is up, then you'll be okay.

That would be one seriously angled motor/trans! But yes, same principle of equal uj angles.

my th400 and np203 haven't had any spacers used, they are just sitting on factory, MUSSHY rubber bushings  ...

The rear pinion seems to be pointing way up, over the t case for sure.. guess I need to get a giant protractor and measure my angles..

I guess the bumpstops will pretty much have to be ground off my front shaft's CV, correct?

thanks,
James

Any ideas on how that exhaust can be made to clear the shaft for super cheap? any kinda pipe that would just basically slip right in with a sawsall and welder??

You can by some pretty inexpensive angle finders that you can put on your diff and t/case and find your angles that way. have a word with Jesse at HAD. he really helped me out and can supply any parts to get you outta trouble. I believe Muddytazz can make you up some angle shims if you need something out of the ordinary.

Shims are pretty cheap. If you have zeros on the back you can get these machined to the right angle. It's not just your 'confort' you have to think of. Bad vibes will kill your Uj's and pinion bearings.
Good luck!

Well, it is definitely pointing up, higher than it should be. I may have a line on some 2* shims somebody has laying around. I wish I knew if this would cure it.. I don't have any kinda big protractor :(

yeah, I definitely see what yall are saying, when I kick down on the throttle, the pinion is gonna wanna go even higher :doah:

the echobit would be perfect with a k5, but it seems it overcompensates with a burb... anybody run an echobit on their :burb:??

thanks,
James

where do you get the ford shock towers at? just a pick a part or junk yard or is there a company that sells them?

Thanks Shawn

I bought mine from a member on here but you can also get them at the stealership. The part number is in the tech section.
