**PICS** of front cage progress.... **FAM CAGE PICS ADDED**

Started working on my front cage this weekend. Worked for about 4-5 hrs and this is what I came up w/ so far... Might add a little more in the future?

The 2 prebent bars and the front x bar are part of a Smittybuilt kit that was bought about 12 yrs ago... The rest is .021? wall tubing... the same as I built the back cage out of... and as we know, it has been tested!! /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I'm hoping you mean .120 wall tube /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. .120 is 1/8" wall, I'd hate think think how paper thing .021 would be /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I think tim's comment is its HREW not DOM. I'd think about some more tube in their. I'm all for overbuilt cages. Any bar along the rocker panels? How you have the cage mounted?

I don't have anything along the rockers yet... I may get some more tubing and put a bar along the bottom. Currently it is mounted at 10 places along the floor... 2 in front, 2 under seats, 2 at the smittybuilt main bar, and 4 behind the rear seat. All just plated to the floor, not tied to the frame (and not going to be).

my cage has a hoop handel mounted on the cross bar following the dash, and another on the pillar of the passenger side. Great for holding on! just a thought, as s if you need more bending to do.

your looks great though. What color will you make it?

I'd have to agree with MJ. Will make the family part of the family cage a bit more difficult, but just be like my dad, you aren't sitting back there, what do you care how the kids get in?

I was going to put one in, but it is already damn near impossible to get my kids car seat in the back... I don't think I would ever get it in there w/ a diagnal behind the seats.
Oh, and I will probably just paint it black. I will take a few shots of the rest of the cage tomarrow.

A 'V' works well on the 'B' pillar support and still allows reasonably good access to the rear. My kids have always scooted into the back by stepping on the console anyways...

Are you just using the Smittybuilt kit and adding some straight pieces in? Looks sweet in any event, I am still planning to get the S&W kit...someday... /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

The prebent bars are Smittybuilt. The rest is pretty much straight tubing all put together. I did bend 2 pieces for the back bars in a pipe bender, but you cant bend it very far w/o it kinking the tubing, so instead of a 90degree bend it has 2 45's to get the bar down to the floor.

I didn't get any pics of the fam part tonight, but I will try tomarrow night if I have more time.
