Just finished engine install and I just got back from the car wash.

Specs:

1979 Ford F150 4X4

400 modified with edelbrock performer cam, intake and carb, stock manifolds with the crappiest dual exhaust ever, headers soon to come with dual 2.25 exhaust and flow 40's. BTW if anyone is undecided about what kind of cam to run in their DD or trail rig, unless you're looking for crazy power, the Edelbrock combo I have is very nice. Smooth idle at 550RPM and impressive power til about 4000RPM's. I'll be putting the same cam in my 1971 K5 very soon after seeing it's performance in my Ford. Oh and the rest of the engine is bone stock.

T18 manual tranny

NP205 XFER case

HP D44 front, 9inch rear, 3.73's and detroit rear

Stock supsension with 31's now.

This will be my DD soon so I just plan to level the front out and eventrually put some 31 BFG AT's on it. This is going to be my beach fishing truck as well. Now for the pics.

I love it! Very nice, straight and clean truck! Great year of Ford, too!

Needs about 4" lift and 35's to complete the build.

Don't let others get you down about a Ford on a GM site. Most here know how much I love these '73 to '79 trucks also.

I figured since it's some pics of classic iron I wouldn't get flamed as much as if it were a new blue oval. I do think that 4 inch with 35's would be freaking awesome but I want to drive this everyday and I have a 40 mile round trip commute everyday so I don't think i'll do it soon. I am looking into buying a 08 kawasaki KLR 650 and if I get that for a commuter I won't have a problem lifting this one.

Hey this is CK5 not CF150, Just kidding:haha: Nice Ford though  last year before they went to the junk TTB except for one tons. If I didn't have a K5 that would be my third choice behind a chevy truck:haha:

They got rid of the SFA even in the one tons for a while...

Oy...that makes me cry a little...nice truck. My father in law has a 79 JUST LIKE THAT! Only red...with a wooden bed...and a rusty plow frame...and a rusty body...and holes...and rusty rims...and it leaks...and it gets like 7mpg...and it's a POS but it always runs and goes...ugh...yep, we're definitely finding him one in the south...

Yeah this one runs great!!

So far i've only got maybe 15 miles on it. In the pic obviously it's not done but that's the most completed pic of the motor I have.

Nice truck ive always wanted on of these. I almost bought a 79' F250 about a year ago, but the guy wouldnt agree wit my price.

Sounds like this truck was the Snow-Fighter one. It probably had the D60 front under it.

I got my '75 F250 Highboy here locally for $800. I have a 4" Skyjacker system (front and rear springs) waiting to be installed.

These '73 to '79 Fords are some of the best trucks made, IMO.

I have a 78 Bronco, which I stuffed a 429 into. I just picked up a 77 F150 short wide bed, for 400 bucks, with working snow plow.

Do the shackle flip in the rear. It will give you around 5 inches of lift, with the stock springs and shackles.

Is it just me or did the OEM's completely loose the ability to design a nice looking truck after about 1980 or so?

its just you. hahahaha your just saying that cause its a dodge. i love my 88 power ram though. i will say it runs a very close second to my k10

No, I mean the body styles that came after these trucks. Your truck is a '88 and mine is a psuedo-86 cum 83 but both of our trucks were basically designed in the early 70's. Everything for the next while until the late 80's early 90's was just a periodic freshening.

Ya i think it had a D60. had a 4 speed and a 205. plus the guy had a C6 and 205 he was gonna give me if i bought the truck.

Nice Fords, guys. Sorry, the Dodge's were ugly even waayyy back. But, I'll cave and give up a pic of my last Dodge since I have never owned a Ford.:D

I just got done cruising around in it, still have a little tuning to do, I haven't timed it yet, just got it where it sounds good but need to stick a light on it to get it dead on.
