Pics of my Dana 60 14BFF Install

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. This is my 3rd fusion. My last one was in 2007. I have made major progress in the last few days. It's amazing how much harder 5 years of age has made this. Plus my right knee is blown out so that doubles the fun factor. I can't get my knee fixed until my back heals up. It went out 3 weeks before the back surgery. I can go up and down the stairs and walk around the shop now. I am going to try to go back to work half days next week. I dont know if it will work or not. When I got home from the hospital the first night, (without the morphine pump) I prayed to pass out the pain was so bad. It has gotten better thank god. I have lost all feeling in my left foot where I had feeling in my big toe before this surgery. As a result, I am having some balance issues. Hopefully it will came back as the swelling goes down. 3 months and I should be able to do some light wrenching and hopefully be pretty much back to full speed at 6 months. The big thing now is for the bone to fuse. Right now my upper torso is totally supported by the Titanium cage I have.

You have a great attitude man!

Do you have help at home? I can`t imagine the pain you have gone through with your back and the knee to go with it. :eek1:

I got a bad knee and I have trouble with some of the most basic things, like putting socks on... for example.

How is your wife doing? I hope she is feeling somewhat better.

btw/ I love it when you post pics of your shop... it is so clean and bright, just the coolest thing!!:thumb:

We have been so blessed. My wife had been basically bed ridden for 3 weeks prior to my surgery. I had gotten in home health pre approved trough my insurance because I was worried about her getting worse and me not being able to take care of her. The day of my surgery she started feeling better. My sister came and sat with her during the surgery. I was worried.about her....not me. She has gotten so much better during the last two weeks and has taken care of me like an angel. She has changed my bandages every two hours for the first few days because my wound would not stop bleeding. They got my tongue under my wisdom teeth when I was on my stomach in the OR. The vent tube kept it pushed under my teeth the whole 9 hours. They were holding my chin up to keep the gas mask on......as a result, I almost chewed my tongue in too. I have been on a liquid diet since the surgery trying to get it to heal. She has cooked and made me all kinds of great liquid stuff in the blender. Steak, all kind of stuff. My tongue was swollen to twice its normal size and I couldn't talk in the hospital. It's gotten a ton better now. I can talk now. I don't sound completely like my self but I am getting there. She has done so well, we cancelled the in home health. I do not know what I would have done without her. Out of the 3 surgeries, this has been the most painful and toughest to get around with my knee. I wore this badass brace on it even in surgery. That brace is the only thing holding it together. I'm not a religious nut or anything, but we have had a lot of people praying for us and I truley believe it has worked. My wife has taken care of me better than any health care nurse and some of it has not been pretty. I am way more fortunate than I deserve to be. She is a saint.

That is awesome news!!

I read it this morning on my phone, made my day.:thumb:

I hope she continues to do well, and your back gets better soon.

Thank you so much. I can't tell you guys how much it means to me for all the support from this site. Week before last, I worked half days on my walker and my wife went to work with me. She would sleep with her head on the table in our break room. This past week I worked full days and used my walker very little. I went back to the doctor and I got a great report. He said that he wished that all of his patients tried as hard as I have to get better. Most people just go on disability after 3 of these surgeries. Here is a pic of my xray that was taken Thursday at my 3 week check up.
