Pics of my Dana 60 14BFF Install

Thanks guys! Dont get too excited yet...there is still alot of work to be done before burn out time...but at least i am back making headway. And...clearing stuff off my shop floor which is an added benefit.:D

I'm just glad to hear your house is back to some what normal. IT would be a big PIA to deal with all that while working long days.

Gratz on the boat run! :eek1:

Thanks my Alabama Brotha! You just dont know. Between the cost overruns on the house, living in the RV (the concrete contractor plugged a skill saw with 300' of cord into my RV when he couldn't find a convenient outlet....it already had 2 AC's running at max capacity....it blew all the breakers in my Shop, then tripped the Main which shut the house down. When it did, it shut all the fans down ( I had a bunch of commercial fans going in the house to keep air moving so our cabinets wouldnt expand and come off the walls since our central AC unit was sitting in the yard unhooked) My contractor finally called 5 hours later.....and I left work it a panic. I got home, my dog was on the floor of the RV out of water it was probably 125 degrees in that tin can, my cats were in the house and they were non responsive. They spent a week in the vet, we almost lost them. That night, my AC in the camper quit working again....I went in the shop at 4am thinking it tripped a breaker. It wasn't tripped. When he hit that saw, I was already pulling 27 to 28 amps on a 30 amp circuit. What I didnt know was that it burnt the wires half into before the breaker kicked. While we lay asleep in the RV, all the wires melted in the outlet and conduit and caught on fire and almost burned my shop down. If was so close.....it was so close we almost lost EVERYTHING! Had it gone up, the explosion of all the gas in there and the boats would have blown us away in the wee hours of the morning and we would have never known what hit us. Ad another $1,600 in unexpected electrician charges to the house bill. My wife's job going away to almost nothing.....my income way down and more stress and longer hours than I have worked in in 10 years for less money.....it has taken its toll. All my chit has turned grey in 18 months. But I can't complain....we made it. Things are looking better.....and we are STILL SO FORTUNATE to have the things we do and a good marriage to boot. It has been alot of sleepless nights with the economy....but we are gonna pull through. Thank god we had saved some money through the good years or we would have been sunk. I grew up poor and never had anything....but I wasn't happy about going back for what appeared that way for months. I was so scared that I worked around the clock at work and I actually got promoted as everyone around me was being let go (more responsibility but no more money.....but I was Ecstatic when they called me in) I may not be too smart.....but I will work the average guy in the ground. You may outsmart me....but you won't outwork me. :zombie18:

Wow, that's a scary situation! Glad you made it through, didn't lose the shop, and are coming out on top! Congrats on the promotion!

doubt you'll hear... i had asked at the beginning of the thread... some people don't talk about that... i'm surprised to hear the word "promotion", i was pretty certain he owned his own biz..... i KNOW firsthand what a boat like that costs..

anyway, good to hear things have somewhat gotten back under control and your motivated on the burb....

It could be top secret and if he tells you he's gotta hunt you down!

The burb looks great. I'm glad to hear y'all are doing better

well, sometimes it is can't... I'm not worth hunting down!

Its not like I want to know how much he makes, etc. I'm just curious to what his profession is so I can have a better understanding how one can afford such toys as in this thread.

Now if someone were to remain mum about it, then I'd have suspicions of a possible drug dealer, hitman, etc. You get the idea.:popcorn::D

No, occasional stuff. Drive 150 miles to my RV on the weekends during cold weather. Weekend wheelin on medium rated trails at Coal Creek / Windrock.

Great build thread.

My friend lives down by Knoxville. We took our quads down to Coal Creek a few years back. We liked watching the buggies on Rattle Rock.
I am also hoping to get my boat (dinghy compaired to yours) down there also. Will probably take it to Douglas Lake.

Good luck with the rest of the build.

Stew, we went to coal creek and carried the RV to Indian Creek the weekend of the Poker Run. I have been so buried at work, that I didn't even know that it was the event weekend. I have pictures of us every year since they started doing it. We unloaded the Rhino and road over to the events area. We went slow as my wife had had some surgery. We jump on trail 22 from the campground and go to the parking lot...then up to the events area. I was going to do the drag race in the rhino but I didn't have a helmet and they wouldnt let me run. There was a group there that were camping at Indian Creek and they were out partying Friday night and ran off the mountain at 4 am in a RZR. It was so dusty and they were trashed. They were life flighted out and the RZR looked like a crushed beer can. It fell nearly a 100' before it hit. I don't know if they made it or not. I rolled in about midnight that Friday night so by the time I got the trailer hooked up and the truck unhooked.....I went to bed and fell out. I thought I heard choppers in the early morning...but the military is always on manuevers at night up there guarding Oak Ridge.....so I didnt think anything about it. If you are over that way.....campsites 2 and 3 are mine...if you see the Orange long travel Rhino or the burb over there...swing by and say hello.

Ok, I got the Transmission installed. The redneck engineering I came up with to get this in by myself was too embarrassing to take pictures of. I used 2 ratchet straps and my floor jack with a a 6x6 stood up longwise. It worked. I have to put the TCI big pan on and the dust shield because I didn't want to scratch up the new pan. All the mounts have been converted to urethane. Motor mounts....tranny mounts...etc.etc. I will get some better pics after I get the rest of the pimp accys on and get some better light. I am freaking beat. I came in and out from under this thing what felt like a 1,000 times tonight. I want to get the T case and headers stabbed next so I can figure out where all the plumbing is going to go. I can now also get some measurements for my torque limiting straps to keep the motor from twisting. It may not run yet....but my floor space seems to be growing. :D

I just think its funny that that trans alone is worth more then any of my trucks... Good work on getting the trans stabbed alone. Been there. Its lame.

I'm not sure if this has been asked already (I tried searching) but what do you do for work? Congrats on all of your success :D

I'd say by now if he hasn't chosen to share details of his income or profession, he doesn't want to and isn't going to. Take a hint people...he owes us nothing.

Enjoy the build, drool if you must...but please stop pestering him with questions about his personal life and profession.

Personally I think it's just really cool to see a cubic dollar build here, they're pretty rare. :waytogo:

Was just about to jump in with the same, good work Rene.

And IIRC, he did give us some info way earlier in the thread.

Keep up the good work!
