I recently joined the K-5 club on Monday with my purchase of a 1984 K-5
For all of $600 I got a running Blazer with a 305 in it.. had to learn to drive a stick but it worked out well. Hopeing to use this as a project to learn on and have fun with
It is quite a change from my little '88 Ranger. Strangely enough I was more interested in finding a Bronco but I kept reading more and more I liked about the K-5 and just had to jump in. Couldn't be happier so far!
And I tried to do a little flex on a 6" ramp.. no dice! My ranger would be rubbing at this point
I do need some help with a few things..
For starters, it came with Headers, and there is an exhaust leak at the block. Headers seem to be decent, not rotted out at all, just seems to leak at the gaskets. What is the best approach to fixing this? I've heard a lot of advice and still havn't got it all sorted out yet, and would love the input of others here!
It is running a little on the rich side. The carb is not stock, it is an Edelbrock, but beyond that I couldn't tell what model it was(didn't have time to take a better look at it). How do I adjust that?
The other big thing I'd like to do for now is put new seals on the front and rear axles. The previous owner wheeled it a bit in some deep mud with the stock breathers, and I want to take the covers off and make sure there's no water or debris in there, reseal them, and put fresh oil in there. The only thing I can't find in the manual I have is whether or not I need to do anything specific when it comes to resintalling the cover(like torqueing the screws to a certain weight or in a certain order). The front and rear are both 10 bolts(which will be changed later
).
Have to do some work on the brakes but I can handle that just fine!
Thanks all for the help, and I do plan on buying a membership in the very near future(next paycheck!). Hopefully I can learn a thing or two from ya'll! Thanks again
