Pics of the new dd/tow rig... '00 K3500 CCLB

from 2hi to 4hi shift away whenever you want. from 2-4-hi to 4lo, i like to be just barely creeping along at 1-2mph, in neutral, then pull quick and drive away.

and you got a better interest rate then a 22 yr old who had his dad co-sign on it! lucky you!

did you get a manula with it?? if so read it.

to change from 4hi to 4lo, stop, put the tranny in neutral and shift it, then drive.

4wd on dry pavement is not good for any truck, you getting ready for snow in cali?
X2 Avery. I wouldn't want to be around your first time with a gun.

Avery..

PM me the VIN and I can run a GM VIS (vehicle inquiry system) and email it to you. It will have all the RPO codes and what they stand for and what open recalls the vehicle may have. It will also give you a history of what was replaced during its original factory warranty.

Nope I couldn't find one in the glove box...that's the first thing I searched for before I asked here... Thanks.

Are you seriously asking if there is a code for the gears in the front of the truck?

Come on Avery I know you are brighter than that.

No, like sandawg said I was asking is there was ever a factory option for a front locker...

No he is asking if there is a code for a traction device in the front axle.

Like was said earlier Avery, that is what 4wds do on pavement.

Dik

Thanks...

haha yeah I was really surprised... my grandma's credit is so strong she was able to carry me; an 18 year old teenager @ 6.9%... I was going into it hoping to hit 10-12% so this was a HUGE help...

I didn't just go out and start slamming gears... I searched around for the manual and didn't find it so that's why I asked here...

Sounds like a deal... I'm in Texas for the weekend but I'll have my dad e-mail me the Vin # and I'll PM it to ya'.... Thanks!

Isn't it a push button the t-case is just friction clutches for the front with a soloniod activation as far as I know you can just go from 2 to 4 whenever and how ever, 4 to 4lo go slower though.

Must be a bank you dealt with.. I snagged a 6.5% rate without any credit history(and I'm 19) at my CU. No co signer, no anything. Told my loan officer I wouldn't take a loan if I had to have a co signer  Only reason I bothered with it to begin with is I want to get some credit established when I get out of school...

As far as the 4wd on pavement thing.. I guess in socal you wouldn't have ever put your truck into 4wd on the pavement due to snow or the like. The hop occurs because the power to the front and rear axles is equal and when you turn the front tires rotate at a different rate than the rear tires(and if both front and rear axles are getting the same power, then you get hop). AWD transfer cases act as a differential between the front and rear...

Nah KGBlazer it's still a stick on the floor... no stinkin' electronic TC for me.... well ok kinda but at least I still get to physically change it :)

Yeah Jonathon that was another plus side to doing this... I needed to get my credit started...

Beats a credit card :waytogo:

Only debts to have are student loans, house, and car :D

That is a very nice truck, you done well, especially if it is what you wanted.

I agree.. some people are telling me to get a credit card to buy stuff I would normally purchase (once I have enough cash in hand). They said put it on the credit card then pay it off at the end of the month... but iono I don't think I want to do that, I'll just stick to making truck payments for now.

Getting a CC is a good idea to establish and maintain good credit, but just don't run up the balance. Credit ratings take into account and give you good points for having a CC for a long time in good standing, and balances less then 1/3 to 1/2 of your limit on the CC.

I know were getting off topic here but will it still be beneficial if I pay it off at the end of each month? Or do I need to carry a little balance from month to month?

pay it completely every month. they'll charge interest on anything left at the end of the month for the next month. and itll lower your credit score to leave some. but a credit card is great for emergencies so that you can pay for whatever you need right then.

hey avery, nice truck!

That 454 should be a beast with towing, I wouldn't worry about a thing. I would add a transmission cooler like others said though, the transmissions in those trucks likes to keep cool!

My only question is.. how in the world do you afford such nice cars at 18? I'm 20 and in college, and couldn't even dream of affording that nice of a rig!

hey man, if your in the mafia, let me know, i'll go in on it too!:D

A little off topic, but it is your thread, so who cares?

Yes, for your own benefit, pay off the card each month. No sense paying the interest unless you need to for some reason.

haha well I own my k10 (I've been working since I was 14) and I pay cash for all the parts and generally I do all of the work on it...
This '00 K3500 w/ $1k down (and the low interest rate thanks to my grandma) is $280 a month which I can handle w/ my job at the machine shop...

gotcha! Well I hope I didn't offend you or anything like that, I was just curious because, i'm how you say.. broke:D

thats an awesome deal though! 1 grand down and 280 a month for that truck is definitely worth it IMHO

Nah you didn't offend me... I wonder about stuff like that too.
Yep, I agree that it is worth it. It'll be a nice reliable truck that can tow the k10 as well.

Actually it's best to run a small balance... no more than 1/2 if you must... and pay more than the minimum... even if only a few bucks :D
CC companies report several things ... late/on-time payments, minimum or more than minimum payment, and balance...

It kills your score if you fill a card up
It kills your score if you miss a payment :doah:

Filling it up tells them your living on your CC, missing payments tells them you cant afford to have a cc...

Lots of good articles out there on this... The credit reporting companies are finally telling the consumers how they rate them... you just have to look...
And working for a bank helps... :wink1:
