Pics WA-TN new Crew Cab (56k beware)

I think it's perfect for what you want already. I'd keep it just the way it is right now. Looks awesome. :waytogo: I'm jealous. :wink1:

For the sake of fyi, you might ask BulldogK5 what it's like to tow with a lifted truck. He's used his crew cab to pull a tractor on a bumper pull type trailer.

Pulling with it is not too bad. I did go on the side of safety and invested in a 10k drop hitch. The load I have hauled is a 18' trailer with a 30 hp. tractor and attachments on it. I knew the load was there but it wasn't a bad pull other than mine has a 350, but John had regeared so it moves it nicely up to speed. Maybe one day I will find a 454.:wink1: I must say that if it doesn't have the rear sway bar, find one and add it. It really seems to help with the load stability. As for the ride height, go with 2.5" - 4" if you do lift it and about 33's would be the tallest. Personally, I would leave it like it is...sweet.:D

It has been a while since I have posted on this web site. The older square body Chevy 1-Ton 4X4 Crew Cabs are becoming very rare. It is only a matter of time before they become collectable like the late 60's and early 70's muscle cars are.

Here is a picture of my V3500. It is a fancy Silverado model with all the bells and whistles. It has 9" of lift in the front, and 10" of lift in the back with 35" tires. This truck is only for looks, and cannot do any serious wheeling (other than a maintained fire road) because of it's long wheel base, and it weighs a ton.

They are going to have to burry me with my truck before I ever sell it.

I would also tend to agree that if you plan on actually pulling with the truck, don't lift it much. I have two reasons...

1. When you start getting up into 35"+ size tires it gets difficult to find brands that have at least a "D" rating, preferably an "E".

2. I think the biggest lift I have seen actually advertised for a 1 ton that uses lift springs that are RATED for 1 ton duty, only goes up to a 6" lift. Above that and I think they are just the regular 1/2-3/4t lift kits.

I planned on never really lifting my crew cab either, but after getting out into some of my work terrain and not having enough ground clearance, I think I'm going to go with 1" more in the front, and 2" more in the back. Won't effect towing, stability, but will help with clearance and saggy butt syndrome that it has (my K30 crew weighs about 8,500lbs).

muahahahah..........give it to me. I have an extra 6BT and 5600 and 4500.

Toyo M/Ts can get E rated in 35" & 37" They look just like my Mickey Thompson M/Ts work pretty well too.

It will be a long time before I do anything. If I do lift it most likely would be 2" w/ some 33"s.

Sorry, I took it for granted that all the Crew Cab guys knew about it already. It was for sale on this board. It was Solidaxlesub's truck. He was the second owner & had only had it for a year or so. The original owner ordered the truck from chevy, & used it primarily for camping/RV towing. I am the third owner.

It is a '91 4x4 Silverado. All power everything, 454, 4L80E/205, D60/14 bolt.

Just found the thread ( I had to go looking for it, I can't get left out of the crew cab loop:haha: ), one of the cleanest, if not cleanest non restored original crew cabs I have ever seen.

Nice looking crew cab. :waytogo:

I was told that the cream colored headliner and panels was the only way GM ever built theses trucks. Luckily the original owner of my crew cab changed the headliner and had the panels died to match the rest of the interior. Mine is burgundy also.

Now I have never been accused of being the brightest person but I do tow with mine. A 16' Lowboy and a 28' Toyhauler. The lowboy is no big deal. But when I pull the toyhauler I use a equalizer hitch with sway control. The toyhauler is over a 1000lbs of tounge weight and close to 9000lbs when fully loaded. Seems to pull just fine. Granted I only run 65mph and use common sense when pulling it.
