Piecing together a full vert! (This Blows)

So I guess some updates are in order. Haven't gotten anywhere with the motor, still being worked on at the machine shop. That will probably be a winter project. We built a roll cage for it in the shop and it made so much better to drive. No more problems with the body creaking while the frame flexes.

Last I heard the machine shop said he is 2/3's done.... Whatever that means

Yeah, when I had my block worked the quoted 4-6 week turn around was severely under estimated! But he was a one man operation and came highly recommended so I wasn’t too upset.
 
I would have stopped but I was moving pretty quick downhill near the old mine where I saw it backed in lol. Didn’t see any around it.

Did see several full tops on the other side of the pass.

Next time, we’re taking the blazer with us for just general running around.

the hidden winch and swing out are both trick but give a stock-ish appearance. Well done.

can you post pics with the swing open? Anything to secure/lock it open while tailgate is down?

Thank you so much! I have a T handle to lock it open and a latch to hold it down, they came in a kit. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it fully open. I am starting from scratch though, the spindle is not strong enough for the leverage that is the width of our trucks. I believe it would work better on a narrower vehicle like a jeep. The plan is using a much larger spindle that is double shear and using a truck step bumper for more bracing room.
 
Cool! No more broken 4l60 adapters or housings! Plus the 4500 is the same length as the 4l60 when measured from bellhousing to t-case flange.

I've delivered a couple of 4500's for @Capt Ron before. He's got a nose for finding them for sure. We should call him Capt 4500.

Yup yup! Should all fit in perfectly and now that they sent the correct length drive shaft no more worries of breaking stuff.

I love that color combo, I'm 99% sure that is what my 79 was originally.

Can't wait to get to the end...you're doing great work.
