pinion yoke strap bolts

ok so pirate 14 bolt bible says that

is the right thread pattern, but the ones i pulled out of my 87 14 bolt dont go in. did they switch to metric sometime around? if the 87s ones dont fit i am assuming that i have an older yoke with the 5/16 thread.
hope im not going crazy....

I had problems with mine being a little rusted/mudded. I ran a tap through them and ran the bolts through a dye. 5/16--24 is what I used. Worked great. Axle is from 85 though.
