So far I've mad the plans to add the folllowing to my stock engine.
Headers ( Any recommendations? I think I'm going to try and save up for Thorley's or Hookers)
Vortec Heads? (Good upgrade or should I look for other heads?)
Edelbrock Performer Vortec Manifold
Injector spacer
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
High volume fuel pump

Am I missing something? Should I drop something for something else?
Also, I'm going to try and clean the fuel injectors soon. Will that give me a noticeable gain in performance?

I would also install a better cam to take advantage of the intake and exhaust mods.

I've looked at cams and I've read on here that you have to be careful on the cam choice as there is a small window that you have to get in? I don't really know what I'm looking for so it is hard to look for cams at places like summit.

Can you provide some cams that will give me some more power with a flowmaster 3" single exhuast , headers, and an intake?

Right now I have 4:10 gears and 33" tires. I'm hoping to bump my 4" lift to 8" and run 36" irocs. If you need any other info just ask.

Thanks, Dennis

I am running a comp cams 262 extreme anergy cam with 262/270 duration, 462/469 lift, and a rpm range of 1300 to 5600. it works fine with my tbi 355 with 10 to 1 compression, but some people do have issues with a cam with that much duration.

at or mt? either way a comp extreme fuel injection cam with 252/266 duration 477/472 lift should be suitable. rpm range is 1300 to 5300.

My new engine is getting the comp cams XFI 8-464-8 cam. Granted this is a roller cam and will produce tons of low end torque but my lower end also has been changed from stock and the engine is also getting a set of AFR180 heads.

I have the new k&n air filter, and the tbi spacer. I'll look at getting the fuel pressure regulator and the air intake. Does the fuel pressure regulator allow you to boost the fuel psi? Also do you think I should swap the cam with a stock bottom end?

I think after all this you will also need to get ur tranny done. Just because you have a good engine doesn't mean you will go anywhere you will need to spend some cash on your tranny.

Tranny was rebuilt like 5-10 thousand miles ago. I might need to get it serviced because those 5-10 thousand miles were over like 5 years.

If you go Vortec swap you will need a new chip burned. Also as said you need a new cam. Waste of money to put on vortecs and leave the stock cam.
Call Comp cams and ask them to suggust a cam for your needs.
If you want to build a high torque motor. I would just use your stock 193 heads. Do a valve job put in better springs and have them mildly ported. You will end up with a good set of heads that flow well up to 5K rpm. and build great torque. It will cost less than a vortec swap, More torque down low under 3800 rpm than vortecs. and get better gas milage. You wont have the top end power that vortecs have but how often do you run over 5K rpm?
Top it off with a Comp Extreme energy XE 249 H cam and mabe some 1.6 to one roller tip rockers and Edelbrock performer TBI intake. With an adjustable FPR this combo can be run on the stock chip.
Re: cleaning injectors. Pretty hard to clean them yourself. Either buy new flowmatched ones or send them to a injector service to have then sonicly cleaned and flow matched costs about $80.00
