plate on bottom of 6.0 oil pan?

What is this plate on the bottom of my 6.0 ly6 oil pan? Ive tried searching with no luck...can it be removed?

i think it's just a baffle for the oil, the pick up tube is right by it.

Why would you want to remove it?
 
Just want to pull the bolts out to clear the engine crossmember. I pulled one out and it didn't leak. I'm not sure of I should take the other bolts out.

I can tell you that my 6.0 doesn't have it. If it's a deadener, I assume that means it is supposed to keep the bottom of the pan from vibrating. I can't imagine you couldn't get away without it.
