(Please Help) engine problems

What size torque converter comes stock with a 1993 Gmc C1500 Pickup with a 305 sb. reason asking i'm rebuilding a 350sb engine and was woundering if i needed a different converter .. going to rebuild my 350 with a 383 stroker kit with foged pistons. what size cam do i need .. gonna use for the street but also want a fast time in the 1/4 mile...for the track.

I got a 383 stroker in my burb and I went about 200rpm higher stall than stock. Got mine at Monster transmissions, they had a good price and fre shipping.

Just so you know, a 383 will require larger injectors and a custom chip made. As for your original question, are you talking what stall speed or what diameter? Stall speed for a truck convertor is usually around 1200-1600 or so.

Scott above said you would, and he is correct.

You will hear people say they've done it without changing injectors and PROM tuning...these are people that have not used a wideband O2 sensor on their motor.

As to converter, GM used about a billion different converter stall speeds, so it's going to be a range, also as Scott said. Generally in a truck, you don't want to use a higher stall converter. Converters are interesting animals...stall is partially based on engine output, so your stock converter WILL stall higher than it does with the current motor, assuming the new motor makes more power.
