Please talk me into Edelbrock PRO FLO 4

That is an empty sender, that I would want to install the right pump into. I can look for spectra also. Im searching this AM, Im hoping to order this weekend.
Make sure it’s a TBI sender for the pump (figure you knew that).
They were running 6-8 week back order last year

I will make sure its the TBI sender, I am also wondering about the LS style 58 PSI filter regulator? Any chance one would party OK with the PF4? I am sort of assuming my engine spec will be ok with the 58 psi settings

There are 2 different pressure specs for the PF4. A regulator can be had for it that goes into the end of the fuel rail

Personally, I like the fuel rail version. It’s nice and clean and not on the frame of the truck. Keeps all the high pressure in the rail, so that the return will be all low pressure.

While I don't have my cold starting performance perfect yet either, I don't really mess around with my PF4. I probably dorked some things up in the settings a couple of times, my son and I have worked lots of it out. As far as the hardware, I have not had issues, I even have gone out in the boonies by myself and made it back without problems.
:doah: :saweet:

I do wish for a little more control over some parameters, but I honestly believe that is partially due to having the automatic transmission, your SM465 will eliminate the problem of stumbling and dying when putting it into gear cold. You're already going to have your foot over the gas pedal, and you will load the engine slower than an automatic transmission.

I am curious about the Volcano modification for the single plane manifold, (@folkenheath sells that too) but I don't know if I will pull mine off to do it.

Oh. I believe that I have the same Edelbrock heads, can't remember for sure, but that number seems correct.

Sounds good! I am getting closer to the PF4. I'm on read through #3 of the PF4 thread here.....As I said im tired of making mistakes and want to get stuff right if possible. Like many others here I will have a nice collection of parts in the top of my Barn that are Lightly used...haha. This is my 3rd squarebody in life, and I'm not selling this one so I want it awesome.

I recommend an adjustable regulator, especially with the PF4. The reason being is the tunes are very specific, the limits are smaller as it is self learning, but much more limited in how much it can vary vs the base table than some other self learning systems, this has pros and cons. So if you get an adjustable regulator, you can set it to 43 or 58 psi, whatever you need for your combo.

Otherwise you will need to look up the tune chart and see what your engine will need most likely, and if it has a tune for 43 or 58, or just one of them, then get that fixed pressure. However, if for some reason you aren't happy with that tune, you may not be able to try a different one if you can't adjust the fuel pressure.

Pro Flo 4 ordered through Folkenheath. With the VOLCANO. Also MSD blaster coil added.

I went with no tablet and just gonna use my phone Samsung S10+. Should be good.

Still need to order a fuel tank sender and regulator system.

For what it’s worth, the GM crate ZZ6 EFI is using the PF4 on it. It’s rated at 420 hp, but I’m not sure what pressure that was tested at

I ordered the correct sender from ebay, a place over in Missoula had 1 in stock for 100$.

I will go with the spectra GM15C 25 gallon tank with the baffle tray and a walbro 255 pump gss342.

Still trying to figure out what regulator to use.

Looks like my engine should be OK with the 43 psi version. Edelbrock 17400.
I used the same one, vacuum referenced. I have watched the fuel pressure go down at idle, as well as step up over 43 at WOT. I would think that it would help things out a tiny bit by not having full pressure at idle.

Thanks to all those that chimed in, and to Folkenheath for the deal.

I used an online Horsepower estimator calculator(yeah I know lame), and you put in all your specs and flow rates. it said my engine would be 405 HP at 5400 RPM on an engine dyno. So, I just picked the 43 psi version.

All my parts are ordered as of today.
Volcano equipped PF4 kit from Folkenheath.
Blaster 3 coil
25 gallon baffled spectra tank
correct sender/walbro gss342
Edelbrock 17400 43psi regulator
no name 20ft braided fuel line and AN6 fittings kit
knock off aluminum throttle cable bracket

And I wanted to get the free shipping at summit with the regulator and needed over 100$, so I tossed in the Edelbrock Baja Sun hat to guard my balding dome in the sun. And I can let everybody know I'm the Edelbrock Kool Aid drinking fan boy, since I have given them so much of my money over the years. I will add my install to my build thread later. And probably toss some good used TBI and Edelbrock carb and intakes in the classifieds here at some point.

I hope you get it. Last year when I couldn't find one a seller on ebay had one in stock, but after the order they contacted me and said they didn't actually have one. Said they'd been low on stock since the start of the pandemic. Did get a refund but it was a bummer.

If it doesn't ship quickly I will cancel. Rock auto does list having the 25 gallon senders in stock

That's an improvement because I specifically wanted a 25 gallon sender in October when they were all sold out.
