Looking at a plow on craigslist. Plow is currently mounted on a 75 blazer. I'm not fimiliar with how plows mount up at all, so I don't know what dimensions/mount points need to be the same.

Would this plow fit on my 89 suburban 2500 or probably not?

The front frame horns changed with the newer front end in 1981. I'm not sure exactly how that will affect the mounting, but it shouldn't be too hard to overcome.

How do most plows mount anyway?? I've always wondered. Where to they hook up? Is the mount itself something like a front hitch as far as mounting it? Once the mount is installed, the hooking up the plow itself isnt' that big a deal right?

the frame work for plows will swap 73-87 and 91 blazer/burban/crewcab.

here is my fisher speedcaster old school plow mounts. these were basicly the super duty bad boys of plow and plow mounts.

got a link to the ad on craigslist ? if its got pics can tell you few things about it with value and parts avalibility if needed.

if its this one http://madison.craigslist.org/cto/2192632728.html not worth the cash in my opinion on that setup.

thats a super old myers setup with under hood pump and the frame to mount to the truck looks all fabbed up. and not a super fan of myers plows. thay have bad history with piviot hinge problems and just a light duty plow.

I am pretty sure Fisher lists 2 diif mounts, 1 for 1/2, and 1 for 3/4 and 1 tons. That being said, I took the plow off my 78 K5, and put it on my 82 K20. IFIC I had to make a few holes, but it worked well. It was a 7.5 ft blade. I later upgraded the push beam and went to a 8 ft blade. I don`t use anything but the old style Fisher.

i never said frame work was same. but to bolt up to truck frame WILL work.

and if you want tech on old fisher speedcaster 7ft6" down light duty plow and frame work on truck.

8ft and up is much thicker steel on truck side frame work. push beam were clips the plow in is bigger and wider tab spacing. and the plow is much stronger. :D

and someone had the big 8ft hd i have now on a 1/2 ton truck. :eek1::doah::haha:

Thanks for all the input guys. Part of me doesn't even want to start...I can't afford another hobby and it seems that plowing is a whole new world. Sweetk30 yes that was what I was lookin' at, thanks for the review you probably saved me a big headache of even thinking about any further...and who knows you could've saved my marriage!:pimp: (I think if I spend one more hour on this truck it might be over!)

if you get plow its a whole new addiction trust me. and i dont plow as a pro ether.

and as to saving marriage thats easy. i am 32 and still single and no kids. :pimp:

I've had several Fisher plow setups like SweetK30's ,and as far as I know they fit all 4 wd trucks from 73-87,and burbs and K5's up to 1990 ,or whatever year they stopped using the "old" square body style...you may have to drill some holes in the frame for the push frame to mount...I just put one on my '85 K-10 Suburban a few months ago,I had to drill two of the holes on each side ,but the others were already there and the front most mount uses the bumper bracket bolt to secure it..

I do not know what the frame I got came from,it was already off the truck when I got the whole setup, blade & all...the blade might be a Diamond,it has a torsion spring trip edge instead of the usual fisher coil springs, and also has another pivot on the top with a real beefy a-arm in addition to the usual lower pivot...someone modified the push frame to use on a truck with a 4" lift kit evidently, they welded flat plates on the push bar to lower it 4"...I think the frame may have been off a 3/4 or 1 ton,its the super beefy version just like SweetK30's pictured here..

One note, you'll have to unscrew the clips holding the front steel brake lines and move them aside in order to mount the plow frame, the bolts that hold it on are right "there" and you'll squash the lines flat if you use washers on the bolts..I had to remove the sway bar to install my plow frame because the genius that re-engineered it to work with a 4" lift kit also decided welding the top half of the lift frame and both sides of the push frame was a good idea..NOT!...made it a bi*** to install, all in one 200 lb peice!..:doah:..

yep torsion bottom trip springs = diamond blade. and i have seen / read thay clip in the old fisher frames.

thay are basicly a little more heavy of a blade than the same fisher from what others have said.

and thay had that weird ear style than the fisher stright up 3 holes for the ears.

yep back 2 bolt holes on each side of the frame drill and bolt. and move the clips for the brake lines.

www.plowsite.com has lots of info and deals on plow stuff.

and if you want any old or current fisher instructions or part blow ups here ya go. http://library.fisherplows.com/publications.asp?cat=47

and how to i.d. allmost all fishers and there parts. http://www.storksauto.com/docs/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Fisher-conventional-referance-guide.pdf

Thanks for the advice,I see no signs of a name or model number plate on the plow ,so I was guessing at what make it was...its the beefiest blade and push frame I've ever seen on a plow only 7.5 feet, its built like a 10 footer for a ten wheeler!..it has a nice snow foil and the :"ears" where you pin it on do look different than the Fishers, instead of three holes one right above the other, this plow has a triangle shaped ear and the 3 holes are offset ,not in a staright line...its got a 25" spread between the pins so it'll go right on the Fisher push frame--however,my '82 K2500 has a home built lower push frame someone made by boxing the front frame rails in with 3/8" plate and they used a Fisher push bar with a 22" spread on the a-frame pins,so unfortunately I cant swap blades between the two trucks without making some kind of adapter...this Diaond blade is a BEAST,I bet it weighs a good 150-200 lbs more than my Fisher blade...its like new too,I got a great deal when I traded an old Sears tractor I had paid 40 bucks for it,all I had to do to the tractor was clean the carb & gas tank and do some tinkering!...wish I could get more deals like that...gotta love Craigslist's "barter" section!...
