plan is to band aid the frame in spots . then shorten up the wheel base from the c&c 135" length to around 101" - 105" depending on were I like it . figure I will swap end's of the leaf packs 56" to play with the wheel base if I don't like the short or long . and chop the flat bed down to 5ft length .

doing this will get me back in a solid section of frame . its getting hard to find a good clean frame around here these days . so I figure I will work with what I have for now on the cheep .

That's crazy!!!! Is that the worst part?
Never mind. I just checked out the other thread. Damn.

driver side yes worst . pic 1-2-3 and right pic 4 . front hanger for rear springs and frame area .

over 300k miles on the frame . 2nd body and flat bed.

I have a 3rd cab / doors / fenders / hood for it at some point . but I need a plow truck for the winter so band aid for now . and also need to finish the 2wd build project .

Good lord. How much did that pile weigh? Any guess as to how much of was actual metal and how much just accumulated crud?

Dang!!! I knew it was bad but didn't realize it was that bad!!! So do tell, what are the plans, how's the front clip/portion? Future plans for the truck?

Keep as plow truck / utility truck... Light wheeler... Hardcore wheeler...

Good looking truck, wasn't 100% sure what its future purpose is (what you're planning on doing with it)?

got some more done .

found the rear leafs each main was bent bad on both ends . pic1-2

then new leafs I had for it you can see there a lot better. pic 3

then pic 4 is NOT a photo chop . its now 106 w.b. but I am going to flip the leafs end for end to stretch it 4" more.
I also cut the bed down to about 5ft 6inch length . need to fab a head panel yet.

still need to patch up the bad section of frame yet were the old hangers were. I did get nice used front hangers with frame cut out sections from a old friend out west few months back . so I can use the frame sections to fix it up real easy .

getting it back to plow duty here real soon and make sure the bug's are worked out before snow fly's

gas tank will be on the flat bed directly behind the cab . since I shortened up the w.b. so much the tank wont fit now .

Digging the short wheelbase! Going to work on the ass in the air stance at all?

still need the bumper and trailer hitch also fuel tank added in so more weight will bring it down a bit. prob going to add a balist weight for plow time tho for traction as I always wanted one just never did it.

little more today . leveled up the bed a bit more in the front .

also flipped the rear 56 springs end for end and got 4" more wheel base . now up to 110"

next I figured sine I was in the shop and on the lift might as well toss in the new tuff country 3" H.D. front leafs 4 leaf pack's . this got rid of my ??? brand 4" STIFF H.D. 6 leaf packs I have no clue who made them .

now the truck has some bounce on the front end over the others . and the rear seems good also . just got to lock down the rear ord flip brackets for square side to side and bolt them in place. vise grips to frame at this point till I was sure of were I wanted stuff.

then last few min today I took and droped my sides back on and chopped off the last 3ft section of side board.

the more I look at it now I am going to drop the flat bed down 2.5-4.0 inch as I think is to high .

also still have to add the hitch back on the back . this will bring the a$$ down a bit also for a more level look .

took and cleaned off the old frame parts on the super hitch the original owner had made for it back when it was new and a well drillers truck .

I had removed the ball and added the reciver hitch . also I added the D-rings .

going to fit it back up to the truck and keep it . its just so beefy and hasn't let me down ever.

I got a lot done today for sure . :weld::grind::hack:

another HUGE pile of rust / ends of old crossmember / road buildup junk / and with whats left of old hangers and overload ear's .

0907131238a.jpg

left side cleaned / cut out old thin section of junk for solid area to weld to .

then section of extra k30 frame I got from a deal with hangers / crossmember ends and frame rail all to fix this area if I didn't find a clean frame before winter season .

frame section cut in to 3 sections . side and top/bottoms . lined up the original hanger holes and bolted them in place with grd 8 7/16 bolts / heavy grd 8 thick washers and grd 8 stover / mechanical lock nuts NOT nyloc.

after this I welded the plate to the frame bouncing around for some good sections as it wont need full weld in for what I am going to do with it. also it will get full rubberized under coated to seal it up .

and yes the gap at the bottom will get filled in once I add in the top / bottom reinforcement strips from the frame rail cut up patch making .

here is the frame section left side cut up with plasma cutter nice and easy / clean .

nest 2 pic's are the top plates sitting there lined up ready for bolt down and welding . and the new crossmember end's are in also . I just need a 24" long section of C-channel 4" wide to make the crossmember . I am going to tie in to this with the hitch if it works out right for the hitch's back support cross bar .

last was the 2 section of frame I cut out . left = left / right = right . its amazing how thick it was just 1/16" to 1/8" next to were it was gone or paper thin .
