I was checking out different brand components and noticed that many of the polk car audio speakers are marine certified. I was thinking about going with marine speakers anyways, so this made me very interested, but I don't have any experience with polk audio other than listening to a pair at circuit city so I need some input. Anyone?

I'm not much help here Kristie, tho i have installed quite a few marine speakers.. But I will say that many of the ski boats with towers and such, run some pretty badarse systems that crank pretty good...

I'd love to find out about the best "marine rated" speakers out there, especially component type stuff... Might as well have that durability corrosion-wise, in addition to sounding good...

I'll be watching this one closely... :wink1:

I really dont know much about 'marine grade' beyond what the average person knows (plastic cones & rubber surrounds, etc) but Polk has traditionally made solid speakers, especially in the home audio field.

Well, I was looking around the web this morning at the Polk db series and found a screaming deal on the 6.5" component set and 6x9s so I'm the proud new owner of these:

It'll take me awhile to get them installed, since I'll be doing custom kick panels or door panels (haven't decided which) for the components, but I'm sure I won't be able to resist doing a test run before I actually install them. Not to mention, I need to test my old amp, so I'll post up and let everyone know what I think when I get a chance to try it all out.

I have a pair of those mounted behind the front seats. the surround sound in my home is all POLK. They are a great speaker.
