Pondering a different direction

If I came home with a 3rd full time vehicle my wife would kill me haha. I keep the k5 on liability only. Anything I buy as a toy is liability only. I just got rid of my charger for a Durango for a more family friendly driver. I’m looking for a more family friendly toy that isn’t a complete rust bucket.

Well my wife complains sometimes but she can't do anything, I had 35 when I married her, I am down to 16 so if I get one at least one has to go, most times it'll be 2.
So eventually I will settle on 6 vehicles hopefully.
I have 2 spares now other than my daily and I have 2 ready to be added, I just try not to have more than 4 registered and insured at a time including her car.

Ya screw that. That’s to much to keep up with haha. She’s got her driver. I’ve got my driver and a toy. The only additional vehicle I’m allowed to get is a chevelle which has been my dream since I was 16. Told her when I turn 40 I’m getting that.

Your thinking @centexk5 is how I ended up with the crew cab I have now. 9 years ago the K5 I had was getting beat up and harder to load the family in.

I'm glad I ended up with a pickup because I don't have to worry about a top out back. I can think of lots of times I would have had a busted window or worse yet a busted up top. It's even better with the fabricated bed.

Now I'm at the stage where I only have 1 of my kids to ride on trails with me, because my oldest is in college now. I think a lot about a GMT400 extended cab with my fabricated bed. I also really like the 07-14 2500HD trucks. That said, one of our company trucks is an extended cab version, and I would not want to wheel it. The cab is nice and roomy but I don't like how the front doors seal to the rear access doors that open suicide style. They like to squeak and rattle as it is, I can't imagine what it would be like running over rough trails. But the 6.0L, 6 speed auto, and SRW modern disc brake 14blt rear axle make a great drivetrain. And ORD has SAS brackets for it.

Anyway, my point is that I would look at a pickup rather than a Tahoe or Suburban.
