he was cool guy and i remeber him .

not hard to make them.

Make one. Ain't hard and made MANY in my hot rod days.
Drill, tap and screw it on. They are only resin balls. Most times you don't even need to tap it. Twist and force it on the handle. Handle will cut the threads.
Just keep in mind they are bigger than a regular shifter handle.
And if you screw it up, Hurst makes an insert.
Just don't steal one from the neighborhood bar.
Bad karma will follow you.

Depending on the threads on the shifter, you might get inserts at e.g. Home Depot or a woodworking place (Rockler.)

10-4 on the bad karma, lol. I made one years ago for a transfer case shifter. I drilled the hole a little small and used raw brut strength to thread it on(lol). I just figured for a transmission shifter, I'd be better off getting one with a threaded insert.

Oh yeah, does the column shifter knob come off? Anything for those?

I only know about the 70's column. The later ones may or may not be similar.

There's a splined shaft not unlike a tiny wheel stud on which it hinges, and the knob on the end is friction fit or glued into place. You could easily enough remove the knob and run a die up and down the end. Could prolly even do this without removing it from the column.

Made one years ago when I put a 465 in my CJ5 . Drilled it and got an insert from the hardware store. Easy to do been on there for 20 years.
