Poor mans poly bushing grease

Is it a bad idea to use vaseline as a 'grease' on poly leaf spring bushings? I heard some grease products will break down the bushing.

I would be surprised if vaseline hurt poly, (you can use it during reassembly of auto trans to hold things in place) BUT it doesn't handle heat at all, and would quickly flow out of the areas you put it in. Very ineffective in a bushing application.
