not sure what it is...assuming its a locker, but not sure which one...can anyone identify it?

Most likly it's a gov-loc.
see that large hole right on the edge of the ring gear that you can stick your finger into? thats one of the cross pins
count how many there are (looks like it will be 3)
if 3 - Gov Lock, 14BFF Gov Locks arnt that bad, but makes it harder to get a locker
if 4 - Open Diff or a locker is in there already

That's a gov-loc, and a horribly dirty differential.
its a gov lock and it looks like its been at the bottom of a mud pit. thats going to need some big cleaning.!!!!!

Thought it might be a gov loc, and yes the Diff is in bad shape...and no, I wasnt driving it, a friend of mine gave it to me. The spring perches I had on my 14 bolt were too narrow and he had this one that would just "bolt in" LOL.

I don't think I would "just bolt in" that thing into anything! Looks like its missing a few chunks out of the ring gear and looks like its been sunk into some mud or full of water or something lol.

The stuff on the ring and pinion are just chunks of sludge and rust. I'm gonna pull it all apart and see just how bad it is.
Thats what I govlock looks like? I was told I have one in my 14bSF but what I have looks totally different..Mine has lil sprigns n gears n cam-lookin thign sin it LOL. I'll take a pic in a few weeks and ya'll can tell me what it is.

thats a limited slip in your 14bolt SF. DOn't know if the Gov Lock exists in the Semi. 14 bolt full floaters are just different, don't apply anything you see involved with one to your SF.
Looks like your friend hooked his diff breather up to a sump pump.84_Chevy_K10

yes 14 sf and 10 bvolt and 12 bolt sf look all identical and have the funky cam and spring and such junk on them yeah

The 14 bolt single floaters came with Gov Locks. I've never seen one that used a spring loaded limited slip. The Gov-Lock in the 14bSF under our Sub works very well. If one wheel starts to slip on ice, you feel a thud from the rear and both wheels start turning.sled_dog said:
