I think the problem you'll find is that shipping is NOT cheap. The cost incurred by shipping is enough that it's cheaper to buy stuff at the DEALER sometimes than it is online from my experience. :(

On top of that, shipping varies based on where you are shipping to, what priority, insurance, and so on. If anything gets lost and uninsured, you eat the cost of the product AND shipping.

If you weren't doing a huge volume, your profit margin would have to be pretty darn high, and not knowing your working situation I'd have to imagine your hourly income wouldn't be that great.

I just know from selling stuff online that shipping is what I would consider ridiculous anymore. Sold something for $50, and the cheapest shipping was still $13, and I don't think it was even a 10lb package. :( Not sure if it's always been relatively high, or if it's exploded in cost in the last few years.

If you had the U-bolts bent from straight stock they are not grade 8.

The ones that are custom bent from the local spring shops are usually SAE-1541, which is equivalent to a grade 7.

The heavy duty ones are SAE-4140 and are fully heat treated AFTER they are bent. These ones meet the requirements for SAE grade 8 and also offer more impact resistance than 1541.

You can also get U-bolts made of C-1045. These are pretty much junk; similar to the general utility u-bolts you buy at Home Depot.

The litterature I have for this stuff is a little old, but I don't think the SAE standards for U-bolts have changed much.
